Excellent value for money - a quality printer

(4 out of 5) by A. I. McCulloch on Aug 3, 2008 (Co Durham)
My second Canon printer, and one that is in heavy use due to my job as an adult education tutor. The printer was easy to install and has operated for over 6 months with no problems. The only slight annoyances are that a)the paper rest drops down readily unless held back by a cable looped round one corner, b) the on-off button and the restart button are right next to each other and almost invisible, being black-on-black and c) like my last Canon, if a sheet of paper doesn't drop clear on printing, the rollers will snatch it back up as they rewind and inevitably crease it!

Those minor glitches aside, this is a product I would recommend. It is stylish and sturdy with a fast print rate in both black and colour. Replacement cartridges are now easy to obtain, including lower priced compatibles. The cartridges have an integral print head, meaning that this printer should carry on printing clearly for many years yet.

Update - over a year later it's still going well with no problems, and happily accepts refilled cartridges which has made operating costs even lower.

1St Class and compact

(5 out of 5) by Peter Pender on Jan 8, 2009 (Bonnie Scotland)
I had a lexmark x5470 for quite a few years ,I decided to change it as I was getting problems starting up my P.C.with it.

I purchased this model Canon ip 2500 and what a diference it has made, I am very very happy with it,only one little problem is that it has no font tray to catch the work printed as I have it on a small shelf above my P.C.screen but that is not a manufacturers or printer problem as the printer is 1st class.

the colors are great the speed is great what more can anyone ask for at the fantastic low price, and to the seller FreeInkShop well done on a speedy delivery.5 stars to you.

Disappointing Canon

(1 out of 5) by rjw27 on Nov 3, 2009 (Weymouth, United Kingdom)
This printer has been a pain since I bought it. Canon refused to accept that the problems were anything to do with them and had to be something that I was doing but I have had several printers and none has ever smudged as much as this one. I have had documents and photos ruined and the extra cost of ink is ridiculous. I intend replacing it soon. It also takes a very long time to get ready to print. Printing something quickly is not possible. Once it is ready it prints fairly quickly but as the result might be smudged that is not help. I can't recommend this at all.
