Macally Microphone for iPod

(5 out of 5) by Con Kennedy on Apr 29, 2009 (Dublin, Ireland.)
Highly recommended!

I purchased the mic specifically to record interviews I was conducting for research for my Masters Degree. I didn't want to spend the money on a digital dictaphone that frankly I'll never use again after my research so the Macally Mic was a perfect choice for me.

I have used this mic to record interviews and keynote speeches at seminars and the audio quality of the recording is excellent.

Very easy to use, and once you plug in you iPod you are ready to record and when you sync with iTunes your recoding are copied onto your computer.

Works with iPod Touch (1st generation), but the earphones must be plugged into the iPod's jack at the same time.

Works with Skype App

(4 out of 5) by Graham Stevens on Sep 8, 2009 (Tenerife, Spain)
I wanted a microphone to use with the Skype app on my first generation iPod Touch but couldn't find any definitive information online. I decided to take the plunge and order this anyway. I wasn't disappointed. This mic works perfectly with Skype as long as you remember to plug it in, along with the ear buds, before turning the iPod on. Otherwase the Skype app does not always recognise it. This is my only criticism of it but does mean the loss of a star IMHO.

Excellent!w

Works with my iPod Touch perfectly. However only one problem. When you attach it to your iPod it doesn't clip in and very easy comes out. Very annoying if you use it a lot while moving about.

This does not work with ANY iPod Touch using OS 3.1 or above.

This device worked very well indeed, with a good clear sound, an integrated design (so no wires!) and the added benefit of a line-in jack that made it possible to record from external sources.

This was until my first generation iPod took a software update to 3.1, at which point it began to behave very badly - if I used recording sofware shortly after the iPod Touch had booted, it would record for a few seconds, then report "This device is not compatible", after which the Touch would refuse to acknowledge the existence of the microphone. It has demonstrated these symptoms ever since. Which is a real shame.

I now have a useless Macally Microphone if anyone would like to buy it off me.. something for Marketplace, I guess...
