Good value for money, excellent pictures!
Already the proud owner of a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20, I was after a pocket-sized digital camera that would take ordinary AA batteries instead of a battery pack, had a large size LCD screen, and that wasn't too pricey. Thank my lucky stars I stumbled across the FinePix A610!
This camera is a good bargain. It looks nice, takes stunning images with no fuss (just point and shoot), has a 3x optical zoom (and a digital zoom if you want to go further - which I personally wouldn't use for reasons of picture quality), and a nice large clear LCD screen - possibly the largest screen you'll find in a camera of this size.
The A610 has a number of useful preset modes for different shooting conditions; including landscape, portrait, party, sport, fireworks and baby mode! It also takes great night shots, I carried this camera around New York with me, and got some smashing images with this little beauty. And the batteries have lasted for ages - I'm still on the first set of double AAs.
If you want to make use of some of the camera's more advanced features, unfortunately you may get lost in the menu system, which isn't the most intuitive. Also, if you're looking for a camera with colour filters, this one won't help you. But these things aside, the A610 is all I hoped for in the price bracket, and more. I highly recommend it!

Quick Reviews!
Having had limited experience of digital cameras, and a trip to Paris on the horizon, i wanted to buy a reasonably priced, easy to use camera. I looked on Amazon and read a few reviews, and the A610 seemed like a fair bet. I already knew that Fujifilm were a reliable company, and was sold on the high Mega-Pixel count and Optical Zoom.
The first thing you will notice is the generous size of the screen. The design is sleek, and the camera is the perfect size for carrying. Switch it on, and you will see how easy it is to use. The menu is simple to navigate, with many pic-taking options- manual settings, settings for every season, for night and day, and even more specific types such as Fireworks and Flowers. There is also a movie option, though no sound on playback.
The picture quality is sharp, with vibrant colours and looks almost as impressive as a camera three times the price of this one. The zoom is probably average, I could take many pictures of buildings in the distance from the top of Notre Dame which look great.
My only niggles are that some of the night-time pictures have a tendancy to blur slightly, usually when there is light interference, and that for some reason my instruction booklet was entirely in French. An ideal first digital camera- easy to use, plenty of features, great quality pictures.

Good Quality And Simple To Use
I purchased this camera as a present for my dad. He has never used a digital camera before as all things that require the use of a computer tend to make him a little bit wary. It has turned out to be the best present I have got him in ages, possibly the best one ever!
The major benefits to someone looking for an 'easy to use' camera are featured in this smart little model. Firstly, it runs on ordinary batteries - something which appeals to older people, like my dad, who don't even own a mobile phone. Secondly, it has a decent size LCD and by using the handy Help Text anyone could manage to zoom in and out of a picture in order to assess whether it had achieved what was desired.
Another major benefit is that the actual quality of the pictures are truly excellent. As the owner of a EOS 400D SLR, I still found the picture quality of this little camera were of a very high standard. In fact, I liked it so much I am considering getting another one for me - for those times when you want a small 'pocket-sized' camera with you.
The instruction guide clearly guides even the most inexperienced person through all of the functions available, of which there are many. To put it into perspective - when my dad had tried my SLR he had barely touched anything, with instructions being told to him, in five minutes. In the case of this little camera, however, he had sussed out the batteries, the memory card, taken five photos, and taken a little video clip around the room, all in the time it took for my nan to make a cup of tea!
Overall, I have to say this camera may be compact, but it is jam-packed with everything it could possibly need, whilst maintaining its position as the most easiest to use model currently available.

Great Value!
Received this camera as a birthday present, brilliant large lcd screen. Easy to use menu, i suggest activating the digital zoom in the menu for those distant shots. For the money it out performs itself. 2 weeks now and not a bad fault yet! Software is useless so i use my own pc software when editing etc...

Great for the pocket
I am very much into photography having purchased succesive SLR's from Pentax, Nikon and Cannon over the year. Have purchased/viewed over 20 digital cameras and always come back to Fuji, their cameras are simply outstanding. Have alraedy owned five Fuji digital cameras. Thw two I use at present are this one and the 6500. The 6500 is more like a SLr and is the camera I use for visits to the zoo (great optical zoom0 and Disney land. When I require a camera I can put in my pocket (the Beach or any occassion I do not waant a brick around my neck) this is the camera I take. Th equality is excellent and it is so portable. My 7 year-old loves to use this camera as weel, it is easy. Since writing this review have upgraded the 610 to the 920, far better definition, four times optical zoom and slighly larger LCD display. Still use the 6500, great camera.
