Overall, I am impressed with the results of augmenting the wide-angle ability of my camera using the combination I've just mentioned. I'd have to say that one of the major drawbacks is that the size of this lens combination obscures part of the camera's built-in flash, and therefore a shadow of the lens and adapter will be cast in your picture. If you want to use a flash, you would have to use an external slave flash (Canon makes at least one for the Powershot series).
Build-wise, the threaded section that connects to the teleconverters is very precise and a solid fit, but the camera side with the twist-lock fitting is a tiny bit sloppy. However, this amount of play was so miniscule that it doesn't affect the photos.
Price-wise, it does seem a bit excessive for what is essentially a plastic ring, but extending the wide-angle ability of my A590IS camera made it justifiable.
