2 major flaws
very disappointed. 2 major flaws.
1. It EATS up batteries, sometimes only after 20 or so pictures.
2. Many photos seem over-exposed with too-strong a light.
Even if it has other qualities, as outlined by camera-experts, please be aware the flaws i've outlined can be very annoying (and expensive).

Two big problems
I have now being using this model for a year. I like many of its features but there are two big problems. One you will probably already have read about is batteries. It is not really that the camera consumes too much power but that it has a battery sensor circuit that refuses to use batteries that still have plenty of charge left in them. That applies to both alkaline and LiMH rechargables. You can sometimes trick it, as has been said previously, by taking the batteries out and putting them back in again. You may get a whole day's extra shooting that way.
The other problem is indoor shooting in poor lighting conditions. You see what you are trying to photograph in good focus but as soon as you press the shutter button the focus changes and takes the picture blurred. I have been trying to find a way around this ever since I had the camera but the only solution appears to be to use manual focus.
A great pity that these problems spoil an otherwise excellent camera.

love it
I'm not a camera buff but was drawn to this because I had a great little canon snappy many years ago, and what sold it to me over the other options was the image stabiliser; because I tend to get camera shake.
As mentioned by other reviewers you do need rechargable batteries and a much larger SD card. Although you do have the option to switch off the display to conserve battery life.
I'm not a buff as I said, but am very impressed with the picture, the video quality and the capabilities of the camera in general. I even let my mum take some video(she has parkinsons)and even with that amount shaking the film was clear enough to watch, albeit abit wobbly.
Am really pleased with mine - for a snapshot camera - it's brill.

Superb first camera
I purchased one of these little beauties to replace my wifes Fuji Finepix that had started to play up.
Sam isn't really very good with cameras, and she finds my Canon a little complicated to use.
She started using this one straight out of the box, and the picture quality is superb.
She especially likes the large LCD viewing screen, and the face detection makes setting up a photo a breeze.
We have recently returned from a touring holiday in Scotland and I have to be honest...I was using the 570 more than my own camera as it fits so easily into your pocket.
A great camera, superb picture quality, easy to use and carry....what more could you want?
