Review after having the product more than 2 years.
This mouse has been able to wistand my abuse even after 2 years of use. I use it for normal computing and gaming. The mouse is pretty big, for me that is a plus, since I have big hands.
The SetPoint software that it has, you can customize it by having 5 different speeds and changing them with just clicking the button in the mouse. This is especially a nice feature when you are playing a game and you have to make a precise shot, just slow down the dpi and go for it. To me this feature sometimes helps in normal computer use also.
The weight changes is a "nice" feature. But you easily can adjust to almost any weight you choose pretty quickly. So it is not that important.
To conclude, this mouse is great for playing games and just normal computer use. Highly recommend it.

Wrong mouse delivered
True, this is a very good gaming mouse, but be careful of ordering from companies other than amazon. As I ordered my mouse from one of the external companies and recived the stardard G5(silver and orange, which I already have) even though I ordered the blue vein one as shown on the page. Very dissapointed so have repainted it myself.
But concerning the functionality of the mouse it is excellent, supposadly the same tech as the blue one. The only annoyance is that is seems lacking with just the back button, where the thumb is positioned(needs more buttons).
So again be carfeul when ordering from external companies, and if you can pay the extra for the amazon model.

The perfect mouse
I've had this mouse for a year and I have to easily say one it is of the best mice out there.
My only gripe is that after 7-8 months upon starting up the mouse would act as if it wasnt plugged in. Simply unplugging and then plugging it back in solved this problem.

Smooth, Veiny and Tough as a Rock, the mouse aint bad either!
Yes all, if you're considering buying a gaming mouse believe me when i tell you this baby rocks! Great laser, the weights aren't just a gimmick they do make a difference and so many mappable buttons, albeit you'll need to run the software (supplied) in background to get them to function in-game.
You can even map the sensitivity buttons to a keystroke giving u complete freedom to have your binoculars or nightvision instantly accessible. You'll never understand quite how u lived without them. The diamond Razer mouse is the next best contender as far as sick gamers go, but for me this mouse hits all the + points.
THE ONLY THING IS: middle mouse button (ie mouseButton3) can occasionally be a little awkward to press due to the left/ right tilt functions. But dont believe what others say that its unusable, these people must be ducks and have webbed fingers. I mean who uses lean control in an FPS anyway?? If ur like me who doesn't then u can map woteva you want to left and right tilt and still have middle mouse spare for some thing less important than 'use' command.
You could get a razer, but i found that it was a horrible shape, uncomfortable to hold and felt well cheap & light. I dont care if it's got a glowing snake on the front, whilst your busy losing your mind over the emitting blue glow im lining your head up in my x-hairs!
Playing Crysis demo and having your weapon or suit optimization quickmenus mapped respectively to left/ right tilt functions on my G5 is shear bliss. Get one BUT MAKE SURE ITS THE 2007 edition which includes an extra thumb button for 'Reload'. WASD Key config sucks -if u got this mouse, try using the arrow keys and numpad to see how better you get on.
See you on the battlefield!!!

One of the better mice, but expensive
Mice are very tactile objects, so it depends as much on the individual as anything if you like a particular model.
The G5 is fairly comfortable, being on the larger side for mice. At first I thought it was heavy, but it glides very smoothly and in the end I actually added a bit of weight to it. It fits in the hand fairly well, although the forward/backward buttons are not ideally positioned.
For everyday use, a lighter mouse might be better. The Microsoft optical ones are not bad, and cheap.
The real problem I have with this mouse is it's cost. It just isn't that much better than the £5 Samsung optical mouse I normally use.
