Bought this as it cost about the same as some other sat navs, but as a PDA you get a lot more for your money.
This has a good windows OS installed (as good any any other windows software) and allows you to view your photos, spreadsheets, documents and also podcasts or music for the car. The default memory is not enough for all of the above, but as it uses SD cards, it is easy to add a few gigs worth of memory.
Since it is wireless enabled you can browse the internet and ask it to send any emails (I have been using gmail) to your device. This is a great feature, though sometimes it can be a pain popping up telling it is connecting to a network when you are trying to use it as a sat nav!
That bring us on to the sat nav. Really, it is a fairly standard piece of TOM TOM software that runs very well on the device - with all the relevant chargers and cradles to use in the car. I have travelled in Belgium and France with the device and found that the mapping was very out of date - but I guess that would be the same with whichever TOM TOM device you purchased - unless you pay to download new mapping etc.
My only problem with this device is just how long it takes for the sat nav to pick up a signal. This is terribly slow, and the number of time I have been sat on the drive waiting for the device to find us, I think is unacceptable. Again if you stop off at services and switch the device off, you have to again wait for the satellites to find your current location. If you get frustrated and just drive off, it can then take even longer to find you (longer than 10 mins in some cases). This leaves you with a feeling that my flashy purchase is not that flashy after all.
On the whole, this is a really good device - and on paper it looks fantastic. However, with the troublesome sat nav, you will need to leave it in the car for 10 minutes (or wander around on the drive for a bit) before it will take you anywhere.

Sat Nav and PDA in one!
I totally agree with the review "An undiscovered gem". This unit effectively combines two gadgets in one neat unit. It is a very effective Sat Nav, with the latest Tom Tom maps and functionality (you can add POIs for example) but it's also an excellent PDA with Windows mobile 5, Mobile IE, Outlook, Word Excel etc. It also has a range of connectivity including PC, Wi-Fi, blue tooth etc.
The box contains full Sat Nav mount/holder for a car, together with power connection, protective case, and details of additional free software.

Watch your language!
I am living in Switzerland at the moment and bought one of these at the local MediaMarkt store. When I got it home I found that the unit is set to German language AND CANNOT BE CHANGED. HP support were less than helpful - directed me to a website where I could buy a German - English translator program for $79.
There was absolutely no indication on the box that this unit was a German one, so I only found out when I had broken all of the security seals etc. In fact the box text was in English, French and German, so I assumed I would be buying a unit which could operate at least in one of these languages. The manuals are in multiple languages as well, including English.
It's a fantastic unit and I hope I can persuade the shop to take it back and either refund my money or exchange it for an English model, but I am anticipating a battle!
Presumably this would not be an issue if I had bought from Amazon UK, so please don't let this put you off buying the model. Just beware that the language is not negotiable!

A fantastic product is let down by accesories
I love this little machine but it has two major drawbacks:
The Tomtom Western Europe map is years out of date (it doesn't even have the London congestion zone). An update from Tomtom will cost you 100 Euro!.
The carrying case is a poor design. If you carry the machine in a bag or pocket it will usually get switched on by accident and the battery will be dead when you need it!

An undiscovered gem....
Amazon's very brief description of this item does it no favours whatsoever, completely missing out that just over £300 not only gets you a top notch PDA, but it has the latest TomTom SatNav software pre-installed and is ready to go straight out of the box - the battery even comes charged! It comes with maps for the UK and mainland western Europe all pre-installed. In the box there's a cradle to mount it as a satnav and cable to power it from the cigarette lighter on longer journeys.
As a PDA it is excellent also. I previously owned a Palm device, but this HP PDA runs rings around it in terms of what it can do. All of the usual diary, contacts, email and so on, but HP also give you a voucher that you can redeem online for additional software of your choice (from a good selection).
Come on Amazon, write a proper description and you might actually sell some. £300 looks a lot for a PDA, even a good one, but not when it's got full blown TomTom satnav built in for that price.
