Clipped my Garmin Nuvi 250W to the swan neck mount with ease. The mount sits on top of the dashboard and stays rock solid - no shake or vibration at all. I took the car out for a test drive and did a few sharp turns. The mount did not budge, passing the 'test-drive' with ease. A great bit of kit and well worth the money. No more unsightly tell-tale suction cup marks on the inside of the windscreen. Buy it!

I bought this because I didn't want tell tale sucker marks on my windscreen saying come on I've got a sat nav so break in and get it.
Its a bit bulky so carrying it arond or storing it in the car is not easy (except for in the boot) but thats what helps make this work so well.
I thought it might move on the dashboard going around corners; no it doesn't. This holder is not secured to anything and can easily be transfered from car to car, I have a Picasso with a rounded dasboard, my wife has a golf cabriolet with an angular dash, this works equally well in both. The sat nav is very secure and can be positioned for perfect viewing wherever you place it.
No drilling, no suckers, no falling over, no sliding around... It is excellent and does everything it needs to incredibly well.

After struggling with window mounts and third party dashboard clips I bought one of these. Garmin Car GPS devices always seem to be supplied with stiff poor quality power cables which put a strain on any sort of mount. This doesn't seem bothered by the cable and has passed my roundabout test!

I had some doubts that this would really work so well. The number of positive reviews here on Amazon UK convinced me to give it a try. It has not let me down. It works perfectly with my Nuvi 250 model. I drive a Ford Focus C-Max and the interiors around the drivers area are all either curvy or did not have enough flat smooth surface to use the standard suction mount that came with the 250 in the box. (I didn't want to put it on the windscreen.) I feel this solution is better than the suction mount would have been anyway. This one is nice and easy to stow/take away too.

Love it! Ordered end of last week and it arrived on Saturday morning with free delivery option (and Royal Mail must have been on rare top form too).
This is a great item, its far superior to the windscreen mount, which although fairly good, does tend to drop off occasionally and scare the heck out of me - especially if you're doing motorway speeds at the time.
The beanbag is heavy and solidly made and the underside has a sort-of neoprene wetsuit kind of feel to it, which is what makes it stick like glue to the dashboard I guess. No problems testing it already - my other half thinks he's Petter Solberg sometimes...
But.... come on Amazon - could you have made it any more difficult to find this item? Surely giving it a name like 'Garmin Nuvi Friction Mount' would have been a lot more sensible?!
EDIT: 26 Nov 08 - Have now been away on three business trips in hire cars to Manchester, Saltash and Cardiff and the mount (and Garmin Nuvi 250W SatNav itself) have been brilliant and I would again highly recommend having now put them both through some serious miles recently!
