Like some other Intempo products I own the IDS-01 is a mixture of good and bad points. The good is the excellent value this unit represents at around twenty quid currently. It also comes with a mains power adaptor supplied and a jack to jack cable for connecting a non iPod device to the Line-In socket. It sounds pretty good for it's size delivering 6 Watts per channel through it's 2" speakers. It is very small - my iPod Classic stands above the back of the dock area almost to the top of the speaker units themselves.

The IDS-01 has been around in one form or another for a few years now, and this latest version does not come with a remote control, or any dock adaptors provided for specific iPod models. Luckily I already had an adaptor that fitted my iPod Classic or it would have been a bit wobbly in the dock! For a portable unit it is very tricky to actually pick up with an iPod onboard. The speakers do not have any protective grills so it would be easy to put your thumb into one of the speaker cones when lifting, or to bend the iPod on it's mount if grabbed centrally. A small handle would have been a sensible addition.

However, my main gripe with this unit is the fact you can't use rechargeable batteries with it. The Technical Details on Amazon's product page say the unit uses 4 AAA batteries - in fact it takes 4 AA size. Most people don't realise that rechargeable batteries are made to a slightly different specification than standard alkaline ones and they are generally a little larger. This is not normally a problem - however with the IDS-01 four rechargeable batteries will not fit in, the battery compartment is just too small. A silly design fault!

Because this unit offers such good value for money I will only deduct one star for the design niggles although a little bit more care should have made this a five star product.

i love my new silver ipod docking station, my ipod looks fantastic on it, much better than that old black one i had. So imagine how chuffed i was when i heard how much better it sounds also, its really loud and has no crackling or that horrible basey sound that came free with my last effort!! father crimbo better be coming down my chimney with some surprises that i love from that Intempo Website - watch this space I will fill you in!!:-)

I bought these speakers to use in the bathroom (electric supply from the adjoining room and unit kept well away from any water supply!!!) last January and they are still going strong...even at full volume most of my Ipod or sony player songs sound great ..just right for a sing a long in the shower so no one can hear me!! I would also recommend them for a bedroom or study. I have been known to use thes over my JBL ones as they are midway on the ground floor and I can hear them over the vacuum cleaner!!! As I said a good system for the price. Plan to get the children a set each for their bedrooms this Christmas

Purchased these to use in my workshop and for this purpose I have no gripes but they would never be acceptable as my main speakers, the quality cannot be compared to my Klipsch iGroove dock but to be fair at a quarter of the price there is no surprise there. The main reason I am not over impressed is there is simply no depth to the sound; it's just a bit too tinny.

i recieved intempo docking station after two days of ordering,i read reviews before i purchased,i must says for such a small item the quality and sound also very loud,is outstanding value,i would recomened this product highly.
