Sony are improving...
This CD player marks a real shifting point in Sony's history, since they have made some of the most worthless player's on the market! Just put a brand new CD
in and it would jump about like a hyper-active problem child!!! lol. But this player doesn't do that... my hat goes off to Sony for sorting out a
real design no no! Skipping CD players. I've had this CD player for about 6 months now and it play's all of my CD's just fine. Plus they have sorted out the bass function this time around also (as it sounded very distorted when turned up beyond mid, but not this time around). So this player is an all round winner! I would really recommend this personal CD player.

No AC Adaptor OR batteries!!!
I received this item this morning and was surprised to find it was blister packed and not boxed, as per the description! Even more upsetting was the fact that the product did not contain the AC adaptor as described or any batteries! I have a Sony Discman ESP2 which has just recently started slipping on tracks hence the reason for this purchase. The adaptor which came with the Discman is an AC-E455D rather than the AC-E45HG needed for the new item but I tested the adaptor and it worked. I would have bought a new adaptor but after reading the reviews decided to risk my old adaptor. Otherwise the unit will take two AA batteries.
The sound quality is really quite good and it takes some use getting to read the display on the side of the unit rather than on the top, but the unit overall is attractive and I hope will be worth the money. As for the remote, that has gone back inside the packaging with all the other bits of paper Sony supplied!!!
This has to be a personal choice in my opinion...very basic item.

Pooly designed internal battery compartment
The sound quality, dynamic range and the anti shock capability was pretty good. I was let down by the poor design of the battery compartment. The batteries sit under the disc (i.e. it is an internal compartment), so you have to remove the disc every time you need to replace the batteries. More frustratingly, the battery compartment is next to the hinge of the top cover making it quite difficult to access the batteries and remove/ insert them. Overall, not bad.

Praise for CD Walkman
I was so impressed with this product - its quality of use and sound, and its cost and the quick delivery - that I bought a spare one because I hope this does not disappear from the market. CDs are an excellent medium for good music and should not be allowed to be fully replaced by MP3 players. The convenience of a walkman makes it valuable alongside a good quality hi-fi.
My only 'criticism' is that the lid opens only just far enough to replace the batteries - it is slightly awkward - that is all. Even the headphones are good enough not to have to replace them.

Tardy Delivery
I ordered this for my mother in law for Christmas. I had to chase the supplier twice for delivery, until I contacted them there was no indication that they were out of supply. Eventually it turned up after a second contact. The supplier E-mailed me to say they assumed that as I hadn't contacted them they assumed it had been delivered!
The item is fine.
