The card is good.

The card itself works great and also with Windows Vista Media Centre. I installed it in a Dell 531S which requires a low profile slot which this card does not come with but I contacted Hauppauge and they supplied one free of charge.
The software included by Hauppuage is the reason I took a start off. The scheduling service for recording is poor frequently failing to pick up the EPG, and you can't do a series link which means I have to resort to using Media Centre.

Had this card operating under XP MCE and Vista 32bit with excellent results. Be aware that if you have Vista Ultimate 64bit with more than 3GB of RAM this card will not work and as far as I can tell there is no prospect of a fix from Hauppauge.

Can't comment on the software or remote as it went straight into a Media Center machine and that was that. Works fine and worth the money.

I had a Freecom USB stick before this. Picture quality was okay but the pedestrian USB connection and unimpressive software made me yearn for more. So I took the plunge and ordered one of these from Amazon. Been using it almost every day for the past 6 months.
The WinTV Nova T500 is superb value, even once you've forked out another twenty squids or so for the Windows remote control and receiver (essential if you're planning to use this with Windows Media Center Edition).
Installation was a bit of a struggle, only because I opted to use the card with Windows MCE. The instructions that came with the unit didn't really help much with this, although there is a wealth of information online if you know where to look: check out thegreenbutton.com and of course Hauppage's own online support.
My PC already had MCE installed, and with the additional purchase of the dedicated Microsoft MCE remote I now have a cracking sytem that just works day after day making this a real fit and forget experience.
Recording two channels at once is a blast, even whilst watching another recording. Picture and sound quality are great and the response to control commands is as fast as I had hoped. Well worth the effort!
