2nd Generation save apple

(5 out of 5) by V. Crawford on Nov 20, 2006 (Scotland)
I purchased this new version of the ipod nano 3 days ago and I am highly impressed by the quality. When i first saw the original nanos I was glad that I hadn't spent money on them as they looked thin and cheap and scratched in many cases but this 2nd generation nano is much better as it is very similar to the popular ipod Mini which was also big in it's day. The battery life is superb, I've listened to it every night before falling asleep and on the first day it was turned on and off a lot and shown off too so it's done well since it's only been charged once. The Nano itself is a very stylish and sturdy piece of equipment it's bright colours increase it's "Prettiness" and the metallic finish prevents it from looking cheap. Finally the sound quality and screen are much better than it's predecessor. I have to say, I'm an exceptionally clumsy person and have already managed to drop my nano - four times - but there is not a single scratch, mark or bump on it. Great considering It's tossed into my school bag most mornings. A definate must buy for those who want to get a nano but weren't sure on the first generation version. This is exceptional!

Blue Beauty

(5 out of 5) by Hathor on Jan 23, 2007 (England)
I saved up and bought this last month; my previous mp3 (bought the month beforehand) was a cheap eBay iPod copy from Hong Kong, and has given me utter mental trauma. There's a reason it's cheap, people.
This was my first ever iPod product, and I love it. The case and screen - to my surprise - do not scratch easily, although for the more grubby you may want to give it a little wipe every now and again to remove fingerprints from excessive use! It connected to iTunes very quickly on my laptop - around 5 mins - although according to my friend if your internet takes a long time to load you should set up and then go away with a cup of tea and read a book, checking occasionally to see how it's doing.
I like the Click Wheel a lot - I'm pretty sure that having to click the button every time to change music selection and wait for it to change each time was as irritating to those around me as to me with my old model. Plus, the advantages of being able to create your own playlists to suit whatever mood you are in, etc. The battery life is wonderful - stood me a ten-hour uni trip without slowing down.
And of course, the blue just makes it good to look at.
Overall, I would recommend this product (however, I have not had to face the Evil HQ of APPLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, so beware and take plenty of Prozac beforehand as a precaution...) Happy playing!

Really happy with this

(5 out of 5) by Henry Krinkle on Mar 14, 2007 (uk)
My previous ipod finally died after at least 3 years of use, so i decided it was time to get a fashionable mp3 player. And although the ipod nano is an incredibly cool little gadget/fashion accessory, I can honestly say that it's a great music player, too.
My friend had one of those older black nanos with the square edges and it was completely scratched after just a week of use. These newer models, however (mine is the 4gb blue model) are far more durable. I have been using mine every day for just over two weeks with no kind of protective case or anything, just in my jeans pocket, and it could be mistaken for a brand new one straight out of the box. No dirt, scuffs or marks of any kind have appeared, and its metal case gives it a real durability (I thought i was going to break it when i first got it out of the box!)
The little screen is really nice and bright, and pops up little pictures of album artwork when your music is playing, which is a neat touch. It can also store and display photos, although quite why anyone would want to look at a photo on a 1-inch screen is beyond me!
The ipod's battery has been improved, too. I recently took mine to Amsterdam with a University trip for 5 days, and when i got there, i realised i'd left the charger at home. No problemo, the ipod survived the full 5 days of frequent use!
Finally, another small thing they've improved, is the transition between tracks. Older ipods had an annoying little pause in between tracks, which as any fan of electronic music will tell you, completely ruins a mix or DJ set. This has been remedied, and tracks now play seamlessly together with no pause.

Overall, I was a bit dubious at first of quite how 'gadgety' the thing is, but when you get into the feel of using a nano, you'll never look back. Well worth the money. Highly recommended

- - iLove - -

(5 out of 5) by Seleena on Dec 20, 2006 (UK)
I was recently given this iPod Nano in blue for my birthday, before i recieved it i didnt actually know much about them other than they are MP3 players and wasn't too interested in owning one to be honest. BUT, since getting it, i cant ever imagine what i was doing without it! I am the kinda girl who loves gadgets and technology, from the PSP to the CyberShot phone, life was incomplete till i found the iPod.

It is not only just slim, sexy and small, but it has games built in, slideshows, contacts, calendar etc etc its kinda like a mini mobile. Plus i bought an FM converter so i just plug it in to my iPod, pick a frequency and Voila i can tune into my iPod through my car stereo system....

All those songs i was missing... those times when i could only fit the newest tunes onto a CD are long gone, hello tunes... Hello world!!!

I'm in love....

(5 out of 5) by M. Fraser on May 27, 2007 (London)
For my first foray into MP3 ownership last year, i bought two successive Sonys, both of which were utterly unusable. They were difficult to load up songs to, the software mangled my computer memory, both players skipped about a third of songs and they were difficult to navigate and in short they were just about the most frustrating things on the planet.
Thankfully, both got nicked which gave me the chance to see the error of my ways..
My dad bought me a little blue 4 gig Nano in January and I cna't believe my foolishness not to have just bought one in the first place. I LOVE IT!!!!
I'm not a tech-y person so don't want to fiddle about with the thing - I just want it to WORK - and this does!
The software is easy to load onto your computer from the apple site, has never crashed in 4 months, doesn't screw up your computer, it doesn't take all day to load up music, it's reasonably easy to navigate ( a dream compared with the Sonys) , the battery last for ages and it looks great and it's easy to get accessories for.
In short, if this one were to get nicked, I'd go out and buy exactly the same one agin. Except maybe I'd get the 8 gig because now mine's full of all my favourite tunes and I want MORE!
This time, the hype is right. Get one of these. And for God's sake don't buy a Sony.
