An Excellent Buy

It also gives the photographer even more flexibility over photographs allowing lower shutter speeds, and giving the ability created the 'motion blur' effect without photos becoming over exposed.
Saying that, I have a Panasonic FZ50 camera and until recently I never saw the point of buying an ND filter. Sure in the past a few of my photos have had too much or not enough in terms of brightness and contrast, but I've always been able to correct it easily with Photoshop. So why did I buy one? Simply because I'm always looking for ways to improve my photos and considering the price, I thought I might as well try it out.
I was pleasantly surprised with the results I got straightaway. Apart from the things I've already mentioned, I also found that it increases details on some surfaces. For example I took a photo on the beach surrounded by sand and glistening water but with several large dark rocks as the focal point, and the details on the rocks is stunning, a far better result that I would have normally obtained. The ND filter screws on in a few seconds and a big benefit is that it protects your lens. If something was to happen it's much cheaper to replace it rather than the lens. There are more expensive ND filters for sale, but honestly I don't know what difference if any they actually make. I haven't had the chance to try it for myself but I'm also told that an ND filter is very useful if your taking photographs of ice in sunlight (say if your in Iceland or lucky enough to go to the South Pole) as it will cut down glare and reflection. Theres probably more things that you can do with an ND filter that I haven't yet discovered but there is nothing I can fault about this one, it's light and been manufactured to a high quality, what else can I say?
So if you're a photographer or like me just a shutterbug who takes a lot of outdoor photos, this ND filter is an excellent buy considering it's less than twenty pound.

Since this is the only 55mm Panasonic ND filter there is (as far as I know) I bought it thinking it was an ND4, as this is the most usual and the descripcion lacks this information. Only when I received it I saw it was an ND8... A bit dark for what I had in mind and for that reason the 4 stars.
