Great - shame about the ringtones

(4 out of 5) by G. WILLIAMS on Jan 6, 2008 (UK)
Bought this to replace some analogue BT ones because they looked nice with big rubber buttons (not the nasty little plastic ones on some current models). The handset is a nice size and the buttons are spaced sensibly. The menus and functions are all fairly straight forward, with only a few references to the manual to get going. The call quality is superb with perfect reception even at the bottom of a 60 ft garden. The answering machine is also very high quality and the speaker comes on during the answerphone cycle so if you just miss a call you get it or perhaps screen the call first. The answerphone buttons on the main base set are easy to use and the big red messages display is great when you get home to let you know how many unread messages you have. It also beeps periodically to remind you to get the message.

Also the keypad tones can be turned off and the ring tone made suitably quiet that the phone doesn't wake you up with a nasty shock, just nice and gently.

It is just a shame the ringtones are all pretty crap. When will they learn!

Excellent house phone

(4 out of 5) by Mr. C. Mcintyre on Feb 28, 2009 (uk)
What a bargain! these phones are a great shape, solidly made, so aesy to use, good size buttons. Screen was just what i was looking for, backlight is just right, a good size with easy to read txt. Signal is no problem in an average sized house (i dont have a huge back garden!) Only down side is entering all your numbers!

Great value. One of the cheapest cordless phone, and it worked straight out of the box.

We don't use the answer phone, having got used to the 1571.

It has been in daily use for ten months with no problems and is cheaper now than when we bought it.

Range is reasonable, we can use it in the garden from a base station on the upstairs landing. It uses standard rechargeable AAA batteries which are easily available and are recharged in the handset.
