(1 out of 5) by Peter Cumming on Mar 21, 2008These were rubbish! Sound distorts above half volume, which wasn't much louder that a mobile phone speaker. Tried listening to them in the car whlie driving on the motorway and couldn't hear anything. Set them back for a refund. I suggest you save yourself the hassle by not buying them in the first place!

Good value and sound good too!

I thought the previous review somewhat unfair but agree they are not suitable for in car use. I use them with both my MP3 player (Samsung T10) and my Pinnacle Soundbridge internet radio and the volume level and sound quality is more than adequate without using the battery powered amplifier section. Philips offer a passive (non-amplified) version the SBP1100/00 that look the same so presumably sound the same and are even cheaper!

Good sound tone and volume
Slightly misleading description as being practical to " Carry it around in your handbag " as it is like a small childs football when clipped together.
However overall pleased with item.

Excellent product for the price

I also have to say unlike the other report there is no evidence of distortion my ears can detect.
For a cheap portable speakers for MP3 players I am more than satisfied and would recommend it to anyone looking for low cost way of playing MP3 without headphones.
