Excellent at the price

(5 out of 5) by Malcolm Cliff on Apr 5, 2007
It's not often that I write reviews in spite of the large number of products that I have bought from Amazon. (They can always be relied on for great service!) However, like one or two other reviewers I felt it unfair just how many poor reviews this great little device is receiving.

If you are looking for hi-fi quality sound then, yes, you are going to be disappointed - but then what do you expect at this price?! It may well not be much use if you live in an area where there are loads of radio stations filling the frequencies. I guess that the quality of your car aerial, FM tuner, etc, will also have an effect.

However, I must say that I have now used the TuneCast II on both regular short commuting trips and also several much longer trips in the car. I have it tuned to 90.00 and only once - for just a few seconds - have I ever had trouble with interference. The sound is more than adequate to listen to. It is also great that I can use it with both my own MP3 player and also with my son's iPod when he is in the car.

Forget the poor reviews. Get one ordered - you will not be disappointed!

Weak signals, thin sound

(2 out of 5) by Mr. S. E. Cockayne on Mar 22, 2007 (Southam, UK)
Well, it works, and the 4 memories for the transmit frequency are handy when you are travelling around and crossing lots of local radio station footprints. But you are going to lose any impression of tonal richness or bass from your music using this device. I am using it with a Creative MuVo MP3 player, which really is very impressive through full size Sennheiser headphones, so I am 100% it isn't the source.

Technically, the signal strength isn't strong enough to give a decent reception power by the radio head unit, which may be for Ofcom FM broadcasting reasons rather than Belkin's fault; nevertheless that means hiss and crackle, so check out other reviews.

Don't buy it!

(1 out of 5) by Ruth Stranger on Feb 6, 2007 (Newcastle upon Tyne)
The signal strength is inadequate, the claimed range is laughable, it won't even transmit reliably when placed next to the fm aerial of a radio. save your money and buy a better product, the trouble is the better product is an mp 3 player for your car, at a cost of £300!

A cracking piece of kit!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. B. D. Stanton on Jan 19, 2007 (York)
I bought this at Christmas, tuned it to 104.9fm (in North Yorkshire) and its been brilliant in the car. Quality is very good, volume fine; I turn the volume quite high on my MP3 player (for a better signal) and use the car radio volume as normal. Just like a radio station where you like all the songs but without Wogan!

Very good - One Downside

(4 out of 5) by Mr. A. G. Fry on Dec 22, 2006 (Devon, UK)
Very good quality signal produced. I bought this product for playing my iPod in the car and around the house, but i have had many other uses out of it. I now use it to transmit my music libary from my computer to all the radios in my house, but by doing this i discovered one downside. This does not send the signal through the walls of house that good, it will make the bass crackle. But apart from this, very good. I was very happy to buy it for the price it was.
