Camera

Sep 9, 2006 - By R. Sim (UK)

I have to say I love this camera I have had it for a few weeks and it is so simple to use that I undertstanded all the modes and how to find them instantly. I am not very technically minded so this was great for me.

The picture quality is good and the zoom is great.

This colour wasn't my first choice as I really wanted the red one but I had my heart set on this particular camera so I am so please i comprimised and bought this colour.

A good camera to own and use

Nov 2, 2006 - By Dramaticus (Shropshire UK)

I bought a Canon Powershot A430 for my wife, who takes good photos, but does not enjoy fiddling with technology. It has proved to be an excellent choice, simple to use, good results. The large LCD, 4x optical zoom and the use of standard AA batteries are attractive features. The camera has a solid feel, is comfortable to hold, and everything works smoothly. Buy one!

Great photos, great value

Oct 27, 2006 - By Jo Public (UK)

Great little camera for the money. Bought as a gift, it has proved easy to use, not too fiddly and has produced good photos. It has lots of features for the price but can be used as a "point and shoot" and produce fab results for those who don't want to bother.

Superb

Dec 28, 2006 - By Mr. James Slocombe (Somerset, UK)

What a fab little camera. Canon have, again, pulled out the stops. I bought this as a cheap, easy, simple alternative to a 35mm film camera whilst on holiday. I didn't want to buy anything too expensive just in case of loss or damage, but I did want quality and value. I found exactly that with this camera. The large LCD screen is superb. The menus and options are great. Use of standard AA batteries is a huge bonus (as they are readily available everywhere!). The zoom is good. Its well manufactured and impact resistant (I've dropped it already!). And most importantly, the end result is superb photos.

To make this camera totally worthwhile, I recommend you buy an additional 1GB SD card and a stack of AA batteries. Why... because the included SD card will take about 20 photos before it's full, and because the camera is so brilliant you'll want to take loads of photos which requires additional batteries. I DO NOT recommend you use rechargeable batteries, just buy a bulk pack of energiser or duracell as these will give your camera that tiny bit more responsiveness. A lot of friends have snubbed the fact that this model can only take a maximum of 4 mega pixels pictures. Frankly this is ample and anything more would suck the memory from my computer let alone the camera.

So... a few extras and the camera has 6 stars! At the end of the day, for the piece and spec, you won't/can't go far wrong.

Quality Camera

Jan 25, 2007 - By Mr. N. Crawford

I bought this camera as my second camera - I have a digtal SLR and needed a small pocket sized point and shoot. This camera fits the bill perfectly.

Excellent picture quality for the money - better than that of many more expensive cameras.
Simple to use - even my wife has shown an interest!

The only bad thing I have to say about the camera is that it is power hungry. The batteries that came with it didn't last very long. My advice is invest in rechargeables - lots available on Amazon.

One last thing - get a bigger memory card. All in all a great buy.
