Be sure you order the correct adaptor

Unfortunately I did not realise the difference between the "Mini-DVI to DVI Adpator" and the "Mini-Display Port to DVI Adaptor" and ordered the wrong one. Take care that you order the right one. The Apple website is quite clear about which computers each will fit. And I believe this is a bit cheaper from Apple.

Does the job, but could be better

(4 out of 5) by Top Cat on Aug 28, 2009 (Somewhere in England, apparently)
The range of Apples video adapters are certainly not without there flaws. Due to their square face, they do not hold steady if your laptop is not a flat surface (because MacBooks have a curved edge). Also, the prices are somewhat unfair, especially when some of these could have been included in the computers packaging.

Never the less, they work flawlessly and its credit to Apple for such simple operation. I use this adapter to connect my 20" cinema display (aluminum model) to my MacBook, and it works instantly, without drivers needed etc. I highly recommend going for these official Apple products.

NOT THE CORRECT ADAPTER FOR 2009 IMAC

(1 out of 5) by kubrick2001 on May 26, 2009
If, like me, you have bought an imac recently (May 2009) and want to connect an additional monitor - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT - all the info suggests otherwise - including Apple's own website - but if you dig deeper (the specs on the Apple website) you will see the 2009 models use 'mini displayport' to add additional monitors not mini DVI. As i discovered this product is too big to fit into the back of my imac 24.
