The case is perspex so it will not protect your ipod from any impact which shouldn't really matter too much as it is suspended on a lanyard around your neck. Unless, or course, the lanyard breaks within the first 2 months of purchase like mine did. Luckily, I was actually taking the lanyard off and it fell apart in my hands so I didn't damage my ipod, but the fact that I wasn't even putting any pressure on the lanyard and it wasn't getting caught on anything when it fell apart is somewhat worrying.
