Not incorrect, just incomplete...

(4 out of 5) by Tim Parsons on Aug 4, 2006 (UK)
A very decent little player. The reviewer who says that only 99 songs are supported is only partly correct: in fact, as long as folders go no further than one deep, the limitation is 99 songs PER FOLDER -- and the player cheerfully wraps from folder to folder with no quibbles. This is not documented anywhere, however, and I had to ask ATMT themselves.

The supplied battery, as several others have said, should be discarded and replaced with a Known Brand. Battery life is excellent with every alkaline I've tried.

A couple of minor issues; the player should be formatted before use. Particularly if it's going to be used with Win98, but it's probably a good idea to do it anyway. If you don't, you'll only have to do it after everything's vanished the first time, but thereafter, it works fine. Also, it doesn't seem to support any manner of playlisting, so you can't expect songs to group themselves together by album/track or whatever. But hey, semirandom's fun.

For the money, it's astonishingly good value. The packaging's decent, the lanyard with built-in earphones is good, the controls are straightforward -- although they take a little getting used to -- and it works fine. I haven't tried to use it for voice recording (but it can, apparently) or partitioned it for use as a thumbdrive as well (but it can, apparently) but I've seen more expensive thumbdrives that don't work as well as this device.

The only reason it drops a star at all is for the inadequate documentation.

This mp3 player is fantastic! Its great value and very easy to use. The headphones are good and you dont even need cables to attach it to your PC, i would recommend it to anybody looking for a great mp3 player.

Works well - shame about the glass cover

(4 out of 5) by S. Walton on Nov 14, 2006 (Kent, UK)
It would be good if all the reviews for the different colour and size ATMT MP3's were in one area, sure all problems/good points would be clearer then :)

Anyway, it works, pretty well as it says on the package.

I got a new Manual from ATMT web site, translated manuals are always querky.

A Battery (rechargable) last 8 hours
99 songs per folder, including root folder
the 128mb will take 70+ songs, remember depends on the quality of the recordings - low quality more songs :)
The only problem when I first got it was that the glass front is easily broken. Just in my pocket with a few other things - it cracked.
Hooked it to my key fob, on my belt it broke completely when I lent against something.

Anyway, removed the glass (carefully) and it it works fine and is easy to use, sounds ok - different earphones may improve this.

I may even buy another one, this time the 512mb version
99 songs don't last 8 hours

A Most Excellent Player

(5 out of 5) by M. L. Griffiths on Jun 14, 2007 (Cheshire, UK)
This has been one of the most staightfoward players i have owned. Using Media Player it took about 5 minutes to load 128 songs into one folder (I don't know where the 99 track limit comes from?) and start listening. The sound through the supplied headphones is very good quality. The built in graphic equalizer has six presets and the "Rock" setting is by far and away the best. The display is adequate but they try and fit too much into it, but the track details can be seen OK, except in low light as the backlight doesn't stay on long enough.

The only drawback is the battery life isn't as long as advertised; I've got about three hours out of a battery so far.

Good for the money

(5 out of 5) by Mr. Craig Easton on Jul 11, 2007 (Scotland)
I bought this to accompany me on holiday as my Zen Sleek Photo is my pride and joy and i wouldnt want to break it during my drunkeness. After reading the reviews i bought it and have been making sure it works for the last couple of days now. Quite impressed with it to be honest. I managed 160 songs on it and once a new battery is put in it will last for a good 9 or 10 hours anyway. I choose to have a battery powered one so that i didnt have to trail a cable to Salou and back and to keep the cost down. Adding songs couldnt be easier, plug it in, Windows configures it, drag and drop your songs and thats it. Also the speakers that come with it (while quite tinny sounding and a wee bit uncomfy) are made in such a way that you can hang the player from around your neck. The player ways nothing which helps aswell. Cheap and cheerful. Took me 10 mins to work out how to use it but no complaints there.
