Pure 2XT DAB - excellent!

(5 out of 5) by Graham Ian Smith on Dec 19, 2005 (London)
I recently bought the Pure Evoke 2XT and have been delighted with it. I am impressed with the sound quality, build quality and ease of use. It is also attractive and combines traditional looks with hitec workings. Prior to purchase I made a side by side comparison with a Roberts RD 27, and the sound quality
over a range of stations was far better with the Pure. Unlike the Roberts, the 2XT does not have Pause/play.
I would highly recommend the Pure!

Breathtaking performance...

(5 out of 5) by Oliver on Jan 16, 2006 (Newport, Gwent United Kingdom)
I received my Evoke2-xt on Saturday and set it up in the company of my wife and her family. All of us were amazed at the sound quality. It is closer to that of a properly configured budget separates system than a portable radio. The clarity and overall quality of sound is a real shock for this first time DAB user. I toyed with the idea of the portable Pure DAB but I didn't like the reports of battery life or performance. The XT mates very well with the Sennheiser PX100 headphones (a tip I picked up from WhatHifi 2005 awards).

I live in an area where the BBC DAB site says 'may receive signal'. Downstairs I get absolutely nothing but upstairs i have all the channels i want and many more besides. This is probably due more to the construction of my house rather than signal problems in the area (suspended concrete floors).

Build quality is excellent and the unit is very tactile. I looks good both close up and from a distance. The sound quality is good with the volume cranked up.

All in all this radio is the business.

Excellent...

(5 out of 5) by Matthew on Jan 12, 2006 (London)
I bought this radio about a year ago - having read the reviews beforehand I couldn't believe a product could be as good as they were saying: It is, and better. Sound quality astonishing given it's size, and it's design fits in with anything - contemporary or modern. Mains and battery powered for max convenience. Sound clarity is CD standard (you keep on thinking you need to change the CD!) and useability excellent - scrolling alphabetically through the stations. Downsides: radio loses your pre-set stations when batteries run out of juice and chews its way through batteries - you'd be lucky if they last more than a couple of hours. Otherwise one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Having just sent back a second dab radio that broke down I thought OK lets go for the best, is the Pure hype true? Answer yes. For sound quality, build quality and features it is superb. All it has to do now is stand the test of time.
