A 'Sound' purchase...

Nov 11, 2005 - By Amazon Customer

I bought this mp3 player looking for a cheap, yet good 3/4 GB player.

Cheaper than the Nano and with 1 GB more capacity than the cheaper one, i was intrigued.

A very smart, sleek looking number (not plastic loking but sturdy with strong buttons) with extras in the box - neck strap, plastic protective cover, mains adapter, usb cable and nice headphones.

Easy to load data and put songs onto the machine. Easy to use menu with scroll features allowing you to choose the next song whilst listening to one already.

Choose whether to listen to song genres, by album or artist, by playlist ( very easy to programme- press playlist button whilst listening to a song et voila)or listen to your most listened songs!( a very useful feature)

Overall- good sound, easy to use and great looking- good value for money.

Great MP3/WMA Player

Jan 4, 2006 - By Amazon Customer

At first, I went out ot buy an iPOD, or one of the new Sony Walkmans. However, if I had investigated things first of all, I would have realised that you cannot put WMA tracks onto the iPOD, which is useless when I have no net access at home. Having looked at what was available in several high street stores, I thought that 3 GB represented a substantial catalogue of music for most of my collection (1500 tracks if I recall). With a name like Phillips, you can also be assured that you are buying a quality product.

I found that the product and software was extremely easy to load, and set-up. My only slight irritation was that the menus take a little while to get used to. However, the ability to scan through tracks as you listen, with a clear display is great. I m pleased I spent significantly less on a far superior product!

Philips MP3 player.

Jan 26, 2007 - By Laura (UK)

I would recomend this to anyone that simply wants a way to listen to their music when out and about.
Good points: It is really small and lightweight, and has more than enough memory. Mine currently has 40 albums on it. I cant see why you would need more than that at any one time. The battery life is reasonable, lasting about 6-8 hours, depending what functions I have turned on e.g shuffle drains the battery much quicker. As opposed to an iPod,you can put WMA tracks on this MP3 player, making it much easier and cheaper than using iTunes.
Bad Points: The hold function only works when the player is turned on. I often find that the button is accidentally pressed when in my bag or pocket. Very irritating. It can sometimes be slow when skipping from one song to the next. The Earphones supplied broke within a few weeks because the wire was really flimsy, but you can easily buy new ones. The volume could have done to be a little louder.
Overall,it is good value for money, as it really is high quality, and is, in my opinion, better than the ipod, they are way too overhyped and over priced.

Mar 10, 2007 - By F. P. Hughes (Cumbria UK)

I got this great little machine for my birthday (60).
Good points.Easy to load tunes onto, make your own playlists, edit(when you are a rubbish typist like me).
Bad points.Not found any yet.
All in all i am very pleased with it and would not hesitate to recomend the HDD085/05 to anyone looking for a reasonably priced user friendly product.A+++
