Great sound

(5 out of 5) by Dragonf4ce on Mar 19, 2008 (UK)
I received these speakers in record time, top marks Amazon!!

Great speakers, good quality build, very sturdy and with a great sound. I really liked the controller for the sound and bass, it looked good and was a really nice touch.

If you want to invest in some quality speakers for your PC look no further! in fact you could probably have a house party with these beasts! The bass is really thumping, which was just the ticket for me.

Brilliant budget speakers

Brilliant budget speakers

Just bought these speakers for £50 and what a bargain they are. The sound quality even at full volume is brilliant. I previously owned a set of Sony speakers which cost £45 and there is no comparison in sound quality. If like me you have a limit of £50 then these are the speakers to go for. Perfect for house parties and annoying the neighbors.

The best, hands down.

(5 out of 5) by kalsey on Feb 28, 2008 (London, England)
Let me say this from the off - I'm not some kind of pretentious over-educated audiophile, I'm reviewing these speakers in comparison to others I've bought and heard over the years. These range between everything from Labtecs, JBLs and Harmans.

Also, let me say this. This is, by a HUGE margin - the best set of speakers out there for this amount (£80 when I bought them, and they were worth every penny back then). The difference between these and the Harman Kardon Soundsticks II is unnoticeable, but you will notice a little more "oomph" in the base from the Z4s. Also, theres the design...yes, they are as beautiful as they look in the pictures. Piano black finish lined with dusty silver edges. The subwoofer also stays in scheme, so you need not hide it under your desk.

About now I'd go onto nitpicking, but I cannot fault these in any way. Bass is punchy and doesn't fade in/out, trebles are high and clear - everything you could want in a system. Subtle and sophisticated when you need to be, then noisy and window-shaking when you need to annoy the neighbours.

I realise I'm dragging on now...its a lot for a load of speakers. But if I'm to wrap all that up in one sentence: Your search ends here, buy these now.

Short cables

(4 out of 5) by AV maestro on Feb 12, 2008 (Sutton Coldfield)
I wanted one of these to show audio-visual presentations but was concerned by the short length of the cables. A question to Logitech Customer Support said that the cables are hard-wired and it is not possible to extend them. I didn't believe this so bought one. This is what I found:
1. The speaker cables have phono plugs, not 3.5mm jacks, and although they are hard-wired there is actually no need to extend them.
2. The stereo cable from the sub-woofer to the computer does have 3.5mm jacks but is completely detachable and can easily be substituted with say a 5m cable, which is what I have done.
3. The cable connecting the remote to the sub-woofer unit has RS32 plugs for which extensions are readily available.
With these modifications the unit is ideal for the purpose.

Good Price, Amazing Sound, Quality Speakers

(5 out of 5) by A. Simmons on Feb 11, 2008 (Yorkshire, UK)
I bought a new computer and was not pleased with the speaker system which came with it (why have a good computer and a horrible sound system eh?), so after a bit of research for suitable 2.1 speaker systems, my choice was narrowed between JBL's Creature II and the Logitech Z-4 system. My friend owns a pair of JBL Creatures but complains that there is no remote (have to go under the desk to change any bass/treble settings) and that the mid-range tones could be better, but that they are very high quality speakers. After many hours of reading reviews I quavered between these two speakers, the Logitech apparently dramatically improving over its previous efforts and the JBL giving the quality such a brand name carries.
I eventually went with the Logitech's and they are a very nice pair of speakers. Two compressors and a regular speaker in each satellite and a healthy amount of bass pumping from the sub woofer (you wont want the dial anywhere past half way unless you want to annoy your neighbors) makes these speakers perfect for my setup.
They look sturdy, with metal stands and casing and sound quality is higher than you expect for a company such as Logitech, who are less popular in the speaker world than brands such as Bose, JBL and Creative. Despite this, the Z-4 speakers hold their own in their price range. All in all, very nice speakers and very similar in price and comparability to the JBL Creature II- although the corded remote on the Logitech is definitely a plus which will make you love these just a little more than their competition.
