not as excellent as expected

(3 out of 5) by Half-life on Apr 29, 2009 (UK)
The speaker is not as powerfull as shown in the spec. My friend has the
Logitech x-230 2.1 2-Piece Dual Drive Speakers with Ported Subwoofer with lower full power, but it seems that the one that I bought is not as powerfull as this one even though the spec shows the inverse.
In return, nice style with silver color.

Good Price, Amazing Sound, Quality Speakers

(5 out of 5) by A. Simmons on Feb 11, 2008 (Yorkshire, UK)
I bought a new computer and was not pleased with the speaker system which came with it (why have a good computer and a horrible sound system eh?), so after a bit of research for suitable 2.1 speaker systems, my choice was narrowed between JBL's Creature II and the Logitech Z-4 system. My friend owns a pair of JBL Creatures but complains that there is no remote (have to go under the desk to change any bass/treble settings) and that the mid-range tones could be better, but that they are very high quality speakers. After many hours of reading reviews I quavered between these two speakers, the Logitech apparently dramatically improving over its previous efforts and the JBL giving the quality such a brand name carries.
I eventually went with the Logitech's and they are a very nice pair of speakers. Two compressors and a regular speaker in each satellite and a healthy amount of bass pumping from the sub woofer (you wont want the dial anywhere past half way unless you want to annoy your neighbors) makes these speakers perfect for my setup.
They look sturdy, with metal stands and casing and sound quality is higher than you expect for a company such as Logitech, who are less popular in the speaker world than brands such as Bose, JBL and Creative. Despite this, the Z-4 speakers hold their own in their price range. All in all, very nice speakers and very similar in price and comparability to the JBL Creature II- although the corded remote on the Logitech is definitely a plus which will make you love these just a little more than their competition.

Good for the money

(4 out of 5) by R. Harvey on Feb 2, 2007
While not exactly hi-fi this system provides a significant improvement on cheaper examples. The bass control is essential however, as at the indented postion with no gain or cut the bass is somewhat overwhelming - a nice warm undercurrent of fairly effective low frequency is available with the bass at quite low levels. The satellite speakers, while looking a bit flimsy in the photo, are of a satisfying weight and have metal stands. Overall the sound quality does ample justice to the most likely senarios in which they will be used, and I am pleased with my purchase. Could they be bettered? Well, more mid and less bass would be nice but then the satellites would probably be more bulky....

Good - not amazing.

(4 out of 5) by Dave H on May 4, 2009 (North UK)
I got these for my 19" Toshiba TV as it never sounded too great. I wasn't disapointed. VERY easy to set up and operate, no extra leads required. Movies are much improved having added these speakers.

I'm also using them to connect to my ipod but this where I'm finding some limitations arise. Some tunes sound great but others lose out some middle (guitars) and vocal power. It seems the bass and all lower freaquences are sent to the sub (makes sense!) and everything else fights to be heared through the 2 speaker units - big riffs sometimes sound medium sized! This isn't a very loud set up either, but is more than loud enough for dominating a very large room.

4/5 because they are good, very good at times and the price is fantastic! For £40 (current price in Comet) any critisizms are really just nit picking, I never paid for hi-spec hi-fi gear, I paid for some cheap speakers and had my expectations exceeded by a long way.

Brilliant

(5 out of 5) by Ms. Anna L. Williams on Jun 4, 2008 (Walthamstow, London)
as every other review has stated these speakers produce brilliant sound quality even at full volume with no distortion. they are cheaper than virtually all other speakers of this type and are stylish. they dont produce any background humm either as some competitors do. the build quality of these speakers are also brilliant. i was expecting the speaker stands to be plastic but they were metal :D. i urge you to buy these speakers for your PC or laptop.
