Jabra SP500 - Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit

(4 out of 5) by J. M. Gaff on Apr

I have been using this device for about 2 weeks now and apart from a few 'getting started' teething problems I have to say I am really quite pleased. The clear plastic tab protecting the batteries until ready for use, when removed dislodged the batteries, and the device wouldn't charge. A simple remove and re-insert job fixed the problem, but took a while and night sleeping on the problem to fathom out what might be wrong.
I bought this device as I am deaf in my right ear and I was finding wearing my Nokia HDW-3 bluetooth headset distracting. I had been wanting a portable handsfree device I could easily move from house to car. So far it does not dissapoint - I can hear it clearly in the car abvove normal road noise and my contacts do not complain of undue background noise either.
The auto volume sensor seems to 'clip' some of the convesation but apart from that seems good too. The fold out microphone also helps clarity both in and out of the car.
As a hands free device in the house it also works really well and makes it easy to talk and work / write at the same time with a good range.
All in all I am so far very happy with this as a replacement to my old 'on ear' headset and as a bonus I also have less sore ears now.

Jabra SP500 Bluetooth Car Kit

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar

This is agreat piece of kit, particularly at the price. My wife and I both have Motorola Bluetooth phones (but different models) and they both work perfectly. If you have numbers set up for voice dial, you don't even need to take it out of your pocket/bag when you want to make a call. A great advantage (on our cars at least) is that if you clip it to the sun visor, it cannot be seen from outside the car without bending down and looking closely (which could look suspicious). The only thing that stopped 5 stars was the speaker quality - I have heard better but for a lot more money. All in all to be recommended.

Good basic kit that does what it says.

Well made, good instructions. Easily paired to to my Nokia. Works well and very easy to use.
Far better and cheaper than the two previous Nokia headsets that I tried, which I ended up throwing away very quickly.
One happy customer that has found the right product at the right price (£40 delivered)

basic, but simple and effective in use - and still working after two years!

Very straight forward to pair with my Nokia phone. Fits on the sunscreen well and out of sight. Works very well - good clear reception both ways. Single button operation for the most part. No display for incoming calls - but then you don't want to be looking up at the roof of your car anyway! I think this represents good value - particularly suitable if you don't like those stupid blue tooth ear piece things - that make you look like some sort of cyber man.
I have used for about 3 weeks and only charged it once (and I don't always remember to switch it off when I leave the car). Replaceable rechargeable AA batteries as well so I can't see any reason why this wouldn't last for years. In summary: simple to use, neat looking and good value. Recommended.
2 years on and it's still going strong! But .... having bought a few of these for work colleagues, some of the more recent ones have given up the ghost after a few months use. I don't know if the manufacture has changed - they don't look any different - but you have been warned

Shouldn't all electronics be this friendly?

Paired with my Sony Ericsson Z600 straight away. Using the voice control in the phone I can easily call numbers from my contact list after just the press of the button on the Jabra. Very clear both ways, unobtrusive and no more plug in ear discomfort.
