really good but

(3 out of 5) by Master S. T. Horan on Apr 8, 2007 (england)
I brought these from argos and sadly didn't keep the receipt [I just assume things will work for a long period of time.

they where most definately the best in-earphones I have ever brought, but £25+ is not worth it. I noticed after two weeks of use [at least 3-4 hours a day 5 days a week]that the sound wasn't as excellent as it first was, then last week the right sides bass boost busted. So when they are on, you get a nice rich base tone with excellent treble on the left while the right just plays the treble, it's listenable unless you are really into rock and generally bass-y stuff.

the most annoying thing now is that since the the right sides bass has gone, I get a constant whistling noise. The earphone has a bass hole for some soundto come out to counter act outside noise, so now whenever they are on outside the wind makes them whistle.

although these are really really good, when they are in good working order. If you buy these make sure you can get a replacement if they break.

I did feel in large part I paid £[...] for gold connectors, which to be honest don't make a difference.

not the best buy

I got these about two months ago. I'm quite keen on listening to my iPod and while it may not have the best output out there, with a decent pair of headphones you can enjoy music immensely.
I got the piece for about 25 euro with the idea they would be decent middle class in-ear - wasn't really expecting shure or anything like it. Before that I've owned similar models in-ears of Sony, Creative and AKG, all of which I loved.
Now imagine my frustration when I got these. First of all they're abnormally uncomfortable for in-ear - they keep falling out all the time regardless of which size plugs you use. But even if you manage to stabilize them in your ear you would be unpleasantly surprised by what you'll hear.
The so-called "noise-canceling", state of the art, tech of philips is a complete letdown. This is just an excessive amount of white noise that obstruct the music so bad, that I actually feel I'm listening to a mixtape I made when I was a kid. The output of the earphone is meager to say the least. But maybe that's their saving grace as an amplified amount of the disturbing white noise leads to nothing but a hefty headache.
I would not like to indulge in questions about lows and bass, because obviously these were never priorities of the manufacturer.
Overall, this is a really bad piece of equipment, with awful sound quality, while still being pretty uncomfortable.
For people trying to save a few euros while still getting some decent music quality I would suggest the competing models of Sennheiser, Sony and Creative - all of them looking pretty much the same, with the same drivers and the same steady quality of sound.

Not the best

In my everlasting quest to try find some decent earphones I bought some of these earphones from HMV for around the £15 mark, at first I was impressed with a decent level of sound sound brought from the medium sized earbuds.

Sadly 2 months use later the right bud decided it could no longer deal with the pressure of playing my music back to me and decided to die, leaving me feeling ever so slightly out of pocket.

I think in future i will stick with the Skullcandies...

Item was returned

You do not need a review since the earphones (you say headphones) were returned because they did not work properly - and you kindly refunded withour fuss or bother.

The fault centered on very poor response. Listening to a radio to which the earphones were plugged in meant tuning up the volume to 32 or 34. Without earphones, the radio is comfortable at volume level 11 or 12.

You force me to give a rating when none should be given

Good, for a bit.

I bought these products after having to sets of skullcandies break on me, I assumed because of the price they wouldn't fall apart quite to quickly. They worked well for about a month, then one side went much quieter than the other, and now, I get better sound quality if I turn them around and listen to the hole in the back.
Would not recommend, I plan to stick to cheaper ones from now on.
