Good all rounder
This is a great printer suited both to the home or small office. Very easy to setup and install the software.
Once you are use to the settings (that takes all of 2 minutes) this printer is lightning quick.
This printer does not struggle when printing text, and is very quick at printing photos with excellent print results.
The scanner also produces some very quick & good results, along with the Cd printer.
I would recommend any one considering purchasing a new printer to not dismiss this one.

Amazing quality and really easy to set up & use!!
I usually shy away from machines which claim to do more than one thing ie. scan, copy, print etc. figuring that they might do one thing well but won't do all well. In a moment of madness I ordered this machine - which thankfully seems to be an exception to this norm.
The print quality is just amazing - straight from the SD card with no tweaking or fiddling in photoshop the photo produced was indistinguishable from a photo lab picture - and its quick too - 30 secs for 6 x 4s.
The software is really easy to use, very user friendly and straightforward.
Scanning is simple, quick and excellent quality also.
I am very pleased with this machine and would throughly recommend it - although beware it is quite a bit larger than your average printer.

W hat a printer, what a service..WOW
I ordered this printer at 10.30 am Tuesday and it arrived the next afernoon Wednesday. What a service Amazon well done. The MP 800 does everthing it says in the literature and more. It is really easy to set up and use and delivers great results. It does take up a lot of space but it's worth it. Want a recommendation if you have the space and a spare £200 get this machine.

Superb
The quality and speed of the photo printing is now excellent, an enormous improvement on my previous Canon MP370. Text printing is very quick and sharp too, and the toolbox software gives a lot of control over the scanning process. There is a clever slide holder hidden in the lid which even makes scanning 35mm slides quick and straightforward. If you are after good photo editing software the Arcsoft program bundled in is brilliant too.
This is a great buy, and as a further bonus Canon ink is always much more reasonably priced than the other decent printer manufacturers.Look no further!

Professional Quality Miniature Photo Developing Lab (And for Cheap)
This printer truly deserves to be called a photo printer. After my disastrous acquaintance and ownership of a Lexmark "Photo Printer" I decided that the purchase of a proper photo printer was necessary. Firstly, the price may seem a bit above most printers you see in PC World, but it is worth more than every penny. It is, in fact, incredible value. An all-in-one photo printer from Canon like this eliminates the need to ever visit Boots or any other shop to develop your photos. It also has the ability to scan photo negatives and slides, again eliminating the need to visit a photo-developing shop.
There are also many other amazing features, including disc-printing (only on printable discs) to create professional-quality personalized CD's and DVD's. The software for CD label-making is, of course, included in the box. But I have not yet mentioned the amazing print quality. As the previous reviews suggest, print quality is perfect (depending of course on the quality of the camera the pictures were taken with). There is no way to distinguish between lab prints and Canon MP800 prints. However, for the best results, use Canon photo paper, as photo paper from other brands is not always compatible. The printing is also fast and efficient. The ink is very long-lasting and, as most professional printers nowadays do, uses five ink cartridges. And these actually cost about the same amount as regular ink cartridges, so you can buy a full five-cartridge replacement for around £50.
However, with all of these amazing advantages, there are slight disadvantages, but not nearly bad enough to detract from the 5-star rating. Firstly, the size. This printer is huge. It is definitely not suitable for small offices or rooms. But one really must accept this, due to all of the features and machinery inside the printer. Every single component of the printer is extremely high quality, and this all contributes to the precision scanning, copying, and most importantly photo printing. Secondly, the shiny black plastic body is very delicate. NEVER, under any circumstances, use alcohol-based cleaning products to clean the printer. No matter what cloth you use, the printer will be scratched. Use only non-acohol-based cleaners. But none of these are really design flaws, so are nothing to worry about.
All in all, a professional photo printer for a fantastic price. Easy interface, high-quality LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Good-looking, AMAZING scanning quality, and absolutely picture-perfect results. Something in it for everyone. My personal congratulations to Canon for this fantastic and inovative product.
