We have had one over a year. Great phone good reception and range. Base set good design, easy to use. Good timer that turns ringer off during programmable hours (excellent for nursing mums needing siestas or tired fathers wanting peace from work during night time hours).
The review that talks about inability to talk and receive - is mistaken (problem relates to the cheap rate line to foreign call centres - same with any phone.) This will work well with BT, TalkTalk, NTL or any other normal provider. Handsfree works well and base set intercom is excellent. Very good standby and talk times. When you finally exhaust the rechargeable battery (after 9months of 2h/day use) - it is a standard AA size which costs pennies to replace. In short - does exactly what it says in the box with many spades of style. Well done Panasonic. I am buying another for my secretary.

The Panasonic KX-TCD240ES is an excellent product. The base set is uncomplicated, the answermachine is turned on with the simplest of touches, and the added bonus of the voice that lets you know that it is on and off. Particularly good and worth the charge alone is the handsfree option, this allows you to continue what your doing and still make your call - be it typing or on the internet. The handset sits well in your hand, neither too chunky nor too light. We have this product over three weeks and find that we are recomending it to everyone. Everything about this product states its top of its class, be that the individual ring tones, the night mode really the list is endless. And with Amazon you know you are getting good value for money, and a service which is second to none.

Please note the Panasonic 240 / 340 speakerphone is full duplex meaning if you are on a normal BT line you can both speak at the same time.

This phone is really good in every respect. We were v happy with it {Don't listen to the negetive points from the chap above; mostly resolved by looking over the instructions.}

HOWEVER, there is one major defect - the system does not allow caller and receiver to talk at the same time. The base microphone cuts out while the other is talking, which is bad enough. And, when there is background noise (say in a call center) you just cannot communicate at all to the caller. That's completely useless, and that is why it is going back today.

On later models, check this out before you buy.

I bought this phone a few months ago, after a fair amount of research. I also bought 3 extra handsets, also via Amazon.

I have found the phones to be brilliant. Phonebooks in each hadnset, possible to check answerphone messages by dialling in from outside the house, ansaphone beeps when there is a message (saves missing messages by not noticing the red light), speed dial etc etc. I can not think that anyone would need more from a set of handsets - oh, and sound quality great too.

I would thoroughly recommend it!
