Good quality and value

Oct 10, 2005 - By Paul Madge (West Sussex UK)

Our household has the Epson R200 and we have recently purchased the R220 as an addition which is a worthy successor to the R200. The print quality is near perfect especially on photos and it is easy to get up and running. The software included is good although the CD printing software is quite simple. However, it must be said the printing results on CD/DVD are sensational.

This is a 6 cartridge machine for which you pay around £40 for a new set of Epson cartridges or, alternatively, you can get a complete set of Inkrite replicas for around £15. Using this latter option the printer is very economical to run even for everyday (non photo) printing.

Remember, this is a vertical feed printer e.g. you need some clearance above it to feed through A4 paper, plus, there is no USB lead supplied.

Overall, superb build quality and output and very good value for money.

A superb, gimmick free, photo printer for little money :)

Dec 31, 2005 - By Amazon Customer

Well I did all the searching and read all the reviews and for me, this came out at the top.
If, like me, you want hassle free, easy to understand set up and printing guides and quality prints, then this is the one to get.

While I did look at the other Epson printers that were in the £80 - £100 mark, I just felt no need for a LCD screen or memory readers as you already have them, it's called a computer! Sure they might be faster, but the R220 has just printed a A4 photo, set at the highest setting in 1min 30 seconds. I think I can live with that!

It dosn't take up to much space and looks great for a printer. Remember that you need to by a USB cable to hook it up to the PC.
It comes with small amount of trial 4x6 glossy paper, easy set up instructions and software to get you going.

One of the best buys you will make.

Step Up

Dec 10, 2005 - By Amazon Customer

Previously we owned an epson 880, when that died after many years of loyal service, I went looking for it's replacement, the epson R220 just stuck out, and it's a real winner.

If you liked all the good things about the epson 880, then get this printer, it's a must!

A Little Gem !

Feb 6, 2006 - By Rich (Hampshire United Kingdom)

For an average household with normal printing requirements ( B&W text, the odd presentation, your photos after your holiday etc ) this printer really fits the bill.

Good purchase price ( from Amazon ! )
Inks are averagely priced ( £36 for a set of Epsons form Amazon ), but you can get a full set for £5.82 of compatibles from Novatech.co.uk if you wanna go for cheap and cheerful.

It does what it says on the tin, and the software that comes with it is easy to install, and I got up and running in no time.

I think Epson should bung a USB lead in the box, 'cos we haven't all got one already, but that's a minor issue.

Nice one Epson.
