Disappointed

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 19, 2006
I bought one of these phones as a replacement for my old Sony Ericsson p910i, as it seemed to be the logical step up from that phone. However, I was dismayed at the number of times the phone crashed - almost every day - and the number of hard resets I was having to do only seemed to increase. Other programmes the phone was meant to be running - e.g. the next- to-useless alarms - were likewise completely unreliable. I really wanted to keep the phone, as I loved the design and on paper it should be one of the best phones out there, but in my experience, it's a sadly overrated piece of kit. I've now gone back to the p910i, which in my experience, is a much more reliable handset. Caveat Emptor.

BUYER BEWARE!!

(1 out of 5) by Falto on Dec 1, 2006
I bought the i-mate K-JAM in Mar 2006. With Office Mobile and wireless it was the best phone and computer in the market and I absolutely dothed on it.

However in November 2006 the phone would not charge and the socket on the phone where the charger fits had come loose. Nevertheless it has a supposedly 24 month warranty and when I went to the repair shop, they promptly accused me of manhandling the phone and that this may be treated as a non warranty claim.

Only I know that I treat this phone way way better than normal. There is definately some material/workmanship defect in the cradle of the phone where the charger fits in and to change the motherboard with i-mate denying warranty claim is as bad as buying a new phone. Furthermore with this fault the phone is redered hopeless!!

I-Mate should do the right thing and acknowledge this fault on their phone and till then look for another phone despite the great features this phone has!

Outstanding

I bought this PDA which was recommended by a friend - initially I could not get along with it but now I could not do without it, its great. It is an excellent item to have organising your daily life. Usually people who write relatively negative views are those that have dived into the item without first taking the time to understand the workings and mechanics of it and how it can help you in your daily life. I have had mine about a year now i have never had any problems with it or experienced crashes, freezes etc. I am on the move all the time it stores everything I need and I have added a large memory card to it. I find the contacts section particularly useful for the storage of individual and company information.
It sycs with my latop and the transfer speed is excellent, again I have never experieneced any problems carrying out this operation.
If you dont have one buy one you will love it.

BEWARE

(1 out of 5) by Cynthia on Sep 27, 2006 (London)
This phone may have some serious casing issues and a design fault. My 10 month old kjam stopped working and I was sent a 326GBP estimate, stating 'liquid damage'. The phone has never been near water and the technician admitted that environmental changes can cause oxidation inside. Imate were not interested in this and refused to repair it under warranty, so if I get it fixed, which I won't, it would end up being an 800GBP phone.

Just what I always wanted!

For me, this machine does it all: not only is it a mobile phone, with a choice of either touch screen or QWERTY keyboard, but it also does many other things. It is an e-book reader with adjustable type face. It's a camera. It has Word, PowerPoint and Excel as well as Outlook, so you can keep your calendar, contacts and such in sync with your desktop PC. As a Christian, I now have eSword and the daily office, which saves me from taking a pile of books everywhere as I also have Mobipocket and thus my own collection of novels and reference material. You can download music also. It comes with a protective carrying pouch that clips on your belt, charger (obviously!) and spare stylus. The stylus slots into the phone itself easily. It has lots of other features. I'm not in any aspect disappointed with my purchase. However, it's no longer called an i-mate K-JAM, but a QTEK 9100.
