Excellent value for the design conscious...

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 25, 2006
To come straight to the point, the benefits of this drive are: price per megabyte of storage, size (it is a lot shorter than most other drives out there), good looks and robustness. The metal enclosure under the rubber housing is one continuous piece of folded metal, so there is less danger of the USB connector breaking off the body (I only mention this because that's how I lost my last flash drive...). Two changeable covers are a nice extra, although the colours (pink and blue) might not be everyone's cup of tea. This drive works fine on MacOSX, some of the computers in my office running OS9 won't recognize it, but I've had that problem with the last two USB flash drives I've used, so don't let that put you off. If i had to come up with a negative point, I could mention that it doesn't have a lock/unlock switch. But then again I've never found a need for it, and the lack of it probably contributes to the small size. The cap doesn't fit properly onto the back of the drive when it's plugged in, so keep it safe in your pocket...

Great value, compact size and fast transfer speeds

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 19, 2006
This is one of the best value USB drives I’ve ever seen, I’ve been waiting a long time for an affordable 1GB model.
In the pack you get the drive, 3 translucent ‘skins’, a case which can store 2 of the skins, a neck strap/clip and a mini metal ring for use as a key ring attachment.

Firstly I have to say the drive is much better looking then the Amazon photo. It’s actually one of those ultra-slim drives.
To give you an idea of the size, look at the metal connector on any USB device that you own. The body of this drive is just 2 times the length of the USB connector.
Thickness wise the drive is the same thickness as the metal USB connector since it’s all one piece of metal - there’s no plastic lump at the end. You will not find a slimmer drive then this one, it would be physically impossible.
Even when using a skin it makes only a minor difference in thickness.

Speed wise on XP with USB2 I transferred a 760MB video file to the drive in 3 minutes, transferring the same file back to hard disk took just 40 seconds. I was also able to stream the video directly from the drive in Windows Media Center.
Setting it up on my old Win 98SE / USB1 computer was easy, you need to download the 98 drivers from the Sandisk website (only a 1MB download). Once you have the drivers installed it’ll plug and play in 98 just like in XP.

The cap can fit on the end of drive when it's in use so you don't lose it, although it’s not a wholly secure fit. The green light on the end drive looks amazing. It’s not just a tiny LED, the whole back end of the unit lights up and it can still be seen with the lid on. The 3 skins come in clear, red and blue versions and are made of a translucent latex/silicone type material. Each skin comes with a matching cap of the same colour. You can use the drive without a skin in which case you’ll just get the raw metal body.

The encryption software fairly easy to use, but it is slow and doesn’t have the most attractive GUI.

The actual storage space on the drive is 976MB minus 6MB of software (the encryption stuff, documentation and demos).

Overall an amazing piece of kit – the best bits are the low price, the ultra-slim size and the fast transfer speeds. The accessories and the cool green light are just icing on the cake.

Amazing considering the price.

Wow! If you need a sleek UFD buy this!

Let me start off by saying this drive is compatable for Mac OSX users! This drive has to be the coolest around and for such a great price too! It comes complete with interchangable covers; Pink, Blue, clear, a kneck-tie type thingy, and also some free software, but Mac users be aware it's for P.C. only.
The unit feels sturdy and looks like a tough cookie to break. Although the unit its self is quite small, about the size of a AA battery, so it may get lost easily!
Another cool thing about this Flash Drive is the fact that you can buy a separate MP3 add-on that enables you to listen to all MP3 files on the Drive!
All in All I'm very impressed with this product and recommend it to each and everyone of ya!

Can Fix... Below advice works

Following, the advice below, uninstalling the U3 software does help a lot.
Still can't get to the MBR though... what's that about?

Awful

Doesnt work even though i have the right spec. Its very slow, and messes your computer up within minutes. Might as well save those pennies for a more reliable piece of equiptment. I wont be making that mistake again.
