Great sound but very limited connectivity

I am sure from other reviews that quality is good - very good price so should represent excellent value for money. However, the only connectivity is a single scart lead so be sure that you know how it may fit in with your other equipment - sky box, VCR/DVR etc. For better connectivity see other Sony products.

Good, but!

i got this bad boy just after xmas, was thoroughly inpressed with the sound and picture quality on a standard crt screen. nice and loud, feel the base.
Only thing it lacks is an audio input, no av in or phono jack, nothing. this stops you easily integrating it into a media centre or doing anything like linking it to you ipod.
Definately buy as a quality stand alone unit.

No connectivity problems.

I have just purchased this system, having relieved myself of a 2 year-old system by another manufacturer which for some reason froze DVDs halfway through.
For those who are worried about the apparent connectivity issues - don't be. As long as you have a fairly modern TV with at least 2 scart sockets (pref one for DVD, one for VCR and one for Game), then one of these sockets should be 2-way and all you have to do is redirect the signal into the Home Cinema from either TV direct, VCR or Game System using the TV menu. Instructions to do this are usually in TV manual.
For £150 this is definitely worth shelling out for. The sound quality is superb, has loads of functionality and has bags of power that you just won't need to use unless you actually live in a disused cinema.
Seemingly unable to adjust picture (brightness etc), otherwise 5 stars. Maybe I just haven't come across that yet.

Fantastic

I listened to several systems and took advice from several owners of surround systems (including ones with separate amplifiers) but I didn't want to spend big to have great quality, I found exactly what I wanted with this Sony system, it is better than anything in its price range and competes well with much higher priced systems. I believe this one is great value for the money, although when I bought it from Amazon it was even cheaper than they are charging now. It was easy to setup and looks great in the living room and sounds fantastic (delivery was not a problem).WARNING - don't watch a horror movie on your own using this system, its seriously scary. I am totally converted to using surround sound now its the best way to get the most from a movie.

Great System

Bought this a couple of weeks back. Sound and picture quality is excellent ; well worth the money. Now about the connectivity. I agree that it would have been nice to have an additional scart; But the one provided in the system is two way--I have verified this. You can use this both for input as well as output. I used the sound output from my set up box and could play back the TV sound through this system--and it really sounds great. The only issue I felt was, if I want to play a DVD, I would need to disconnect the scart from the set up box and connect it to the TV instead. That's where I felt an additional scart would have been great.
Otherwise excellent value for money..!
