Shinco SDP-6820 ........Excellent value for the money.

(5 out of 5) by Mr. J. Langstaff on Dec 31, 2007 (Cumbria. UK)
This is my first portable player, although I have seen and used others belonging to friends, I can truly say how pleased i am with this particular player. It does everytyhing it says on the box. Picture quality is great in all formats including digital TV.I bought the Shinco freeview add-on(although not cheap)and was supprised at how easy it was to set up. using the given arial it picked up 30 stations, however this only worked in some rooms within the house. Fixing an ordinary portable TV arial solved this problem.
The player is well built with many accessories, remote control,2 pairs of ear phones etc: well designed carry case which lets you included all the extras. The case for viewing in the car is flimsey but adequate(you can always sit with it on your knee).Sound quality is only average and does sound a bit tinney via the in-built speakers, but is loud enough to hear. Using the ear phones gives a much better sound experience though.
You can buy this machine for under £126.00 on line....buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Can't fault it

(5 out of 5) by J. Smith on Jan 1, 2007 (UK)
I bought this product mainly for the fact it plays DIVX / XVID format which I use to back up our DVD collection. This is ideal as I can fit 4 to 7 films on a DVD disk. I found picture quality to be excellent and it even has a pretty good viewing angle. The 6820 has fantastic features such as being able to plug via scart into a regular TV like a normal dvd player, 2 head sockets (although 3 would have been ideal for us) and swivel screen to name but a few. I have not used the USB or Card Reader function but I am guessing it is USB 1.1 so not too fast. The build quality feels top notch and the only negative is the "wheeled" volume control which I think would have been better as +/- buttons. Oh and ultra slimline remote is great. All the cables are included and the battery lasted over 2 hours and was still going strong.

Shinco SDP-6820 DVD Player - QUALITY

(4 out of 5) by Devesh Thakkar on Nov 5, 2007 (Leicester, UK)
After researching portable DVD players, I opted for the Shinco sdp 6820. The sound and picture quality are above anything I could have expected. I have already told a couple of my friends they have to get one. If you are thinking of buying one, then don't look any further. These things are brilliant. However, the first machine I received had a fault on it which Shinco said it was just bad luck, I sent it back and a replacement arrived very quickly, and I could not fault this.

Solid player... screen is a bit dotted

(4 out of 5) by Robin Chatterjee on Dec 18, 2006
The pixels in the screen have thin black dividing lines, however on the whole is a very good player... time taken to read large capacity sd cards and usb drives is a bit offputting... Took forever with my 2 gb cards and drives... The case is a car harness. you cannot use the battery and car harness simultaneously so you must have a cigarette adapter socket close enought o where you want to mount the player... very good range of formats supported...

An expensive and average gadget

(3 out of 5) by T. Tran on Nov 17, 2007 (UK)
The number of bad points is equal to that of the good.

Bad points. Poor picture quality (picture has lots of visible 'grid' lines. Picture is either 'stretched' or 'squashed' (whichever aspect you choose). Multiple car reader doesn't seem 'safe' to use (when inserting any type of card). Sound is tinny. USB port has a 'protective' rubber hood that looks easy to pull off.

Good points. Multiple card reader. USB port. 2x headphone jacks (great sound). Jog proof (seems to be holding out). Very portable (for the people 'on the go'). Buttons are logically laid out and with a good range of functions. Love the twistable screen.

Durability. Well this is the next test because it doesn't look to be the most solidly built player I've seen.
