Quality Product but not perfect.

(4 out of 5) by Mr. R. Croft on May 8, 2007 (Tring (Uk))
I was amazed at the size of this "chunk of glass". However, as with all SONY products the `build quality` was faultless. I bought this for my H5 and it works perfectly and I can`t fault the image quality. Fitting this lens does unbalance the basic camera making it nose heavy, which is to be expected really.
If you iintend to interpose any filter between this lens and camera then be aware that vignetting may occur. I would suggest you get a ND (neutral density or skylight filter) and fit it to the front of the lens to protect, what is a very large (and easily damaged, as optical is inherantly `soft`), lens element. Not perfect but still a quality product all in all which should give years of good service. - Recomended.

Expert engineering produces great images.

(5 out of 5) by Mr. K. P. Rogers on Jul 28, 2008 (London, UK)
This is an excellent chunk of glass, if a little pricey.

It is designed to capture a bigger angle than normal so that you can squeeze more of the view in to your picture. As with other conversion lenses, make sure you get genuine Sony as they have excellent optical glass that will not distort the image or upset colour balances.

For this reason if you're looking for a lens that this one claims to do (and it does!) go for this one and not a cheap generic type that may claim to do more (i.e. x0.5) but I can tell you the image produced will suffer as there is a reason for it being cheaper.

sony lense wide coversion (0.7)

(4 out of 5) by Mr. Keith A. Fraser on Oct 8, 2007 (scotland)
Got this wide lense and can not see how to fit a filer to it as it has no threads on the front .And i can not fit one between the adaptor and the lense as it is stepped in .it does not make it clear that you can not use a filter with this lense .i would automatically fit a skylight filter normally to protect such a big chunk of glass normally .
