Sony NWE405 MP3 Player

(5 out of 5) by Ms. G. O. Moore on Sep 4, 2005 (England)
I brought this not knowing too much about MP3 Players and expected it to take me ages to get used to it but I was really pleased when I realised how easy it is to use.
The sound quality is fantastic far better than I expected and its really easy to negotiate through your albums and my fave is the folder for the full list of all tracks downloaded, so no need to first find the album to play a specific track.
Its a really funky, smart piece of equipment and so far I cannot find a fault, apart from maybe the fact it can only be charged from your computer, but still that shouldnt put you off. The price is really reasonable for what you get.

IT ROCKS MY BOAT!!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jun 23, 2005
After receiving this product, I was taken by its sleek design and light weight. It thought I would have to go through hours and hours of installation thingy's and instructions but all I had to do was insert 1 CD, install and restart. This took minutes. Once installed it was up and ready to go. While all this was happening the player which was plugged in was charging and full within minutes.

Music saved via Windows media or anywhere else on your pc can be imported on to the Sonic software which automatically sorts it for you. However you can re-sort them if you want it's dead easy. The players hold up to 345 songs or files but the best thing would have to be the download time. Not 1, 2 or even 3minutes, it took 30 seconds.

The players itself has a nifty little shuttle switch at the top which lets you swim through your files. After installing all my music I didn't even need to read the instructions, which are easy to read too! It has NO neck strap but it does have a removable clip which is equally as good. I did find that the volume was a bit low but not until I discovered the advanced menu and sound options, which made it louder. It also has cool screensaver display option which lets you choose a saver, I prefer the bubbles! Lastly Ear phones will always be ear phones, you might like them you might hate them, you might even buy those cushiony thingy's but I was fine with them.

So if you want something fun, funky and a little different to what everyone else is carrying around and are not too fussed about massive gigs of space, and just want music on the go, that's a little easy on the pocket, THEN BUT THIS! I strongly recommend it.

(Ooh! One more thing, be aware this does not have a voice recorder)

Good player but be aware.

(3 out of 5) by S. Hislop on Aug 26, 2005 (ripley, derbyshire United Kingdom)
First let me start off by saying this is a fantastic little mp3 player, better in my opinion to the ipod shuffle due to it's battery life, quick charge facility and display. The sound quality is very good with the standard headphones, and excellent with some proper aftermarket headphone, i use the bang and olufsen set. However please be aware that this player can not be charged in any other way than from your computer. i was not told this by the salesman from sony when i bought it and it is not obvious from the box. the first time i noticed i had opened the box and packaging and now sony will not let me return it. This will not be a problem most of the time as most people will have a computer that can be used for charging, but is bought this for holidays and so when the battery life runs out i will be stuck without my music. therfore3 only given 3 stars.

As said at the top good player but please be aware of this and buy another product if this will affect you.

This is NOT an MP3 player !!!

(1 out of 5) by D. Hamilton on Feb 6, 2006 (Blackpool, UK)
This item must breach some kind of Trade Descriptions act. Despite having MP3 plastered over its description, and on the unit/box itself, it cant actualy play MP3 files. It even tells you this in the instructions !
You have to convert your cd's or MP3's into Sony's own format before you can load them onto the player. The supplied software does this quite nicely to be honest though, but the fact remains that it doesnt play native MP3's.
The actual machine is a lovely little player, it sounds great and looks the part. I was unable to get it to select "next track" though, as when you do what it tells you to do in the instructions, it actualy moves to the first track of the next album.
