These have a reasonable sound, though nothing like as good as pro-headphones that give you a relatively transparent reproduction of the sound. These are a little muddy, but then most headphones under £50 are a compromise on sound quality.
One major factor that would prevent me buying these again is the fact that the build quality is really rather poor. I have had two pairs and both have had the left ear piece fall off (I stuck it back on with tape...) and both have had the cable fail, meaning that you end up with sound in only one ear.
If these lasted more than 12 months I might buy them again, but not at £49.75. When I bought these exact same headphones befor they were about £25. Now for some reason they've doubled in price.
This is not a high-enough quality product to charge £50. I might take a punt again at the old price, because the noise-cancelling is really useful on the dreadful London buses and Tube, but the next pair of headphones I buy (beacuse my MDR NC6s have failed again) will not be this model.

Mostly effective
Works well, good price, and strongly made. Note that the speakers are 'on ear' rather than 'around ear' so they do not have an 'ear defender' capability, if that's what you need.
Great headphones
Just to keep it short and simple.
Great, comfortable, nice design and above all do the job very well, noice reduction is great even on noisy tube or trains. I am really happy to have them!
The only thing is, they don't fold completely. Only the phone part does but not the bend part so you can't really put them in a handbag etc, but apart from that - good choice and value for money. Greatly recomended.Sony MDR-NC6 Noise-cancelling Headphones

Worth the money
These are my first noise reduction headphones and generally speaking I am very pleased with them for the money (£32.49 +P&P). I've had these for about two months and find that they give very good sound quality and I'm pleased with noise reduction. The AAA battery lasts a nice long time and I like the fact that the headphones still work when the noise reduction facility is switched off. There is also virtually no noise leakage which I'm sure my other commuters appreciate.
On the other side of the coin, the headphones feel fragile and so I treat them 'tenderly'. Additionally I find after a while (about an hour) that my ears get very warm and slightly sweaty from the pads. Initially as well I found them a tight fit though this seems to has eased off over time.
Wind noise is greatly amplified when noise reduction is switched on, but by switching this off it is a problem easily resolved. This isn't a problem at all on the train, underground, etc. just outside.
Overall I'm pleased with my purchase but if I had to wish for something it would be for a better build quality.
