excellent

(5 out of 5) by alphabet500 on Nov 21, 2005 (West Yorkshire United Kingdom)
Got the camera last week for £77 and also a 512MB xd card for £30. Brilliant value for money -

camera is really easy to use and smaller / better looking than i expected - i never even looked at the manual - just inserted batteries and card and started using camera - menus are really easy to use and no problems deleting / looking through pics.

Can take approx 260 pics (on 512mb card) at 4mp fine quality and aprox 500 at 4mp normal quality. (can also take pics at lower quality/resolution)

can take approx 35mins video on 512 card.

no problem with camera at all - but would recommend getting rechargeable batteries (as with all digital cameras)

in some reviews i had read the camera is not good for indoor pictures but the few i have taken have come out great.

Perfect for use on a night out.

(4 out of 5) by Alistair Duncan on Nov 30, 2005 (UK)
I bought this camera recently and I am very impressed. I own a more bulky Fuji camera for serious photos but I was in need of the kind of camera you could take with you on a night out that would fit nicely in the pocket.

This one fits the bill perfectly (if you'll pardon the pun). The on-board software is intuitive as you expect from Fuji and the 4mp picture quality is enough to get decent photos printed up to about 12" x 10".

Just make sure that your first purchase after buying this is a larger capacity XD memory card. 16MB will run out very quickly. I recommend at least 128MB.

Great spec at this price

(5 out of 5) by Anthony James Western on Apr 5, 2006 (Bridlington UK)
You can pay three times the cost of this unit and not get much more. Most decent pictures, on any camera, are taken outdoor without flash. In this mode the Fuji A345 will serve brilliantly with the one reservation that the delay between pressing the shutter and capturing the picture is long - around 0.5 seconds. This limits the use for action shots but all digital cameras suffer from this problem to some degree.
If you are a "flash happy indoor snapper" this camera will give OK but not brilliant results, however a bit of basic image processing will transform most images to brilliant standards.
Very useful features of this camera are:
1 A viewfinder - try using a camera with just LCD on a bright day!
2 The ability to set white point manually for most lighting conditions - this avoids the yellow tones for ordinary indoor lighting.
3 The ability to switch the LCD off while snapping - this considerably extends battery life.
4 Compact size - it is a carry anywhere camera.

Forget the software package. Windows XP will find the driver automatically and downloading is much more easily achieved using Windows Explorer. Edit images using FastStone Image Viewer which is available free on the net.

Overall if you cannot take decent photos with this camera don't look too far to find someone to blame.

Great Camera

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jul 26, 2005
This camera combines great quality of picture(4.1 megapixels) and ease of use along with a budget camera price. It has a brilliant 1.7inch screen and a 3x optical zoom. It is so easy to use I learnt how to use it within about 1min of turning the thing on.
Well worth your money.

Excellent quality

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 4, 2005
I bought this camera a few months ago and I am very impressed. Never having used a digital camera before , I was a little wary of it being too complicated to just be 'point and click' but it is that and much more. The menu system is similar to a mobile 'phone and is very easy to use. The picture quality is superb, it looks neat and compact and the software is also quite simple and fun! Unfortunately it doesn't come with a pouch but these are cheap and easy to pick up, it also really drains batteries at an alarming rate, but I understand this is common with most cameras. Fuji are a bit mean with the memory card, (12MB) which is good for only about 7-8 decent resolution piccies, but, overall, a pleasing purchase. Buy one.
