iLife 06 worth it if you have iLife 05? It all depends on how much you use the apps. There is nothing revolutionary in the changes, but everything is improved. I used iPhoto for all my photo management and so that alone is worth it for me. It's just all a bit more polished.

One thing that is different is iWeb. If you've already got your own web page, know how to write HTML, etc. this may not be for you. But for the average joe who just wants to put *something* on the web and isn't interested in knowing the details, it's a great tool - as long as the templates are ok for you. The integration between the other iLife apps and iWeb is great - select photos, publish them, record something in GarageBand - publish it as a podcast, even video... For someone who wants to keep in touch with distant family, share photos and video of the kids, then this is just wonderful.

I have been using a Mac alongside my PCs for a few years now but I find that the creativity of the Mac is far better the PC. Saying that without the correct software it's no better. Hence I upgraded to iLife 06.

The software contains all the creative software you need to make a great website, produce and store photographs, produce movies switch the data to DVD and start your own Blog. What more could you want. Ok I have read the others review of the iDVD side of the programme and it can be a bit frustrating when the controls are not straightforward but there are help features and you really should buy an iLife book to get a real hang of the software. Maybe Apple does full down on not supplying feature length manuals but then again at this price you can't complain.

I have used a large number of website generation software and photo editing software and the programmes in iLife are easier to use though they do not contain all the bells and buttons of the higher priced equivalents. But then again 80% of the time I never need the in-depth controls missing from iLife.

I like the programme and I challenge anyone to find such a great package of programmes in one software programme at this sort of price.

I got my first taste of Apple's excellent apps when I bought my iMac g5 last year, I immediately fell in love with the lack of drivers needed for either my video or digital camera when used with iPhoto and iMovie.

iLife 06 brings themes ( the ability to add titles and 'links' to movies taking things up another step in iMovie. iDVD is still unbeatable when it comes to creating professional looking DVDs with ease. iPhoto has got even faster and allowes full screen editing and one touch effects. Garageband includes everything you need to create your own symphony again with unimagineable ease.iWeb is great but to get the most out of it you need a .Mac account.

This set of applications is worth five times what Apple ask and you NEED these just for iMovie and iPhoto.
If you like the 05 version like I did you'll love this even more, well worth it!
