Far better than I expected.

(5 out of 5) by F. Aylett on Nov 15, 2009
I was having a lot of trouble with the existing Netgear Router but various reviews said that the Pre N was a good long range router. I was a bit dubious but can now only say that it has totally exceeded my expectations. Form 100 metres away my signal has now gone from 'Poor' and 'Very poor' to 'Very Good'. It really does do what it says on the box. Also, it's so simple to set up so non nerds need have no fears.

A very sound buy and frankly I have gone right off Ebay and will stick with Amazon.

Fantastic router, but newer options available

(4 out of 5) by B Smith on Apr 19, 2009 (London)
I highly recommend this router and think that it's fantastic. my advice at this time would be however that it's about a 4 years old product and there are newer versions available.

However I'd definitely look at Belkin's newer stock, some of which feature LCD screens and improved technology. Very reliable if this is anything to go by.

useless

In 2006 I bought this Belkin pre-N wireless router with the promise of great speeds. It is truly useless and I have now thrown it away and got a Netgear router. The problems with Belkin pre-N is that: 1. You can't use Skype reliably to have voice conversations. 2 You can't reliably log in to the control panel and change settings such as the security settings (it keeps telling you you are logged out) 3 It really can't handle secure network settings such as WPA, which everyone does need to have. 4 Belkin support are very quick to respond, but all they tell you to do it update the firmware and reboot it. But that doesn't fix the problems. This router is a pup and Belkin should refund everyone who has these problems.

OK Intially, but has many faults

(2 out of 5) by G. Haynes on Apr 4, 2008 (UK)
I have one of these routers now for over a year now, and I can say that this has been thoroughly tested. When I first purchased this device it was on the recommendation of many and varied sites covering IT product reviews. The set was fairly easy to set up and the performance overall was not that bad initially. But as time has gone on I have to say this product has many faults. Firstly it has a tendency to disconnect quite frequently and also suffers from very poor packet loss - (my own network 60% packet loss with router, 0% without)this means that to me this router is utterly useless for the gamer or any one that uses VOIP. Belkin as well offer a very poor customer support and provide little in the way of firmware updates for this product. I have to conclude that if you are some one that is looking for a any product you have to ask yourself about the validity of review sites on the net and the honesty of each.

Query about functionality ?

(5 out of 5) by TeamBolton on Jan 23, 2007 (Herts UK)
After reading the reviews for this router, i'm confident it will be just what i want to expand my home network. At the moment, i have a wired network that connects all the machines in my home.

However, could someone please help me understand one situation. If i have an eternet cable running from the existing wired router, could i simply connect the wireless router to the ethernet cable and have my own small network running off the existing network ? Or would i need another modem ?
