An End To Wireless Problems

(5 out of 5) by Silver Surfer on Feb 5, 2006 (Nottingham, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom)
It took me longer to open the box than it did to set this up.The only advance information you need is whether your IP address is static or dynamic the rest is a doddle even for a computer duffer like me. I've never seen signal strength like this in my old set up and I've never had to re-set or had a loss of address and this is without the Belkin Notebook card (although this omission does restict you to 54mbps),but I'm happy with this for now.It has solved all the problems I had with wireless networking.

Good router, but NOT DS compatible

(4 out of 5) by chemo on Jan 17, 2006 (Birmingham, UK)
I found that this router is a newer version of the Pre-N router, it is a v2000 as opposed to the older v1000 router. As a consequence of this it does not work wirelessly with the Nintendo DS! Although the model number is listed as being "Recommended" on the nintendowifi.co.uk site, as this is a newer router it would seem it's not compatible at all! At least I couldn't get it to work and neither can many other people.

Beware of this if you're a DS owner! Other than that, I found this router to be stable and easy to setup.

useless

in their race to try and beat everyone else to the 802.11n standard, belkin have completely messed things up. these routers are completely incapable of holding a stable wireless signal. you might find some computers on the network get on just fine, but then you'll have others that simply cannot connect or hold onto the connection. i've been through three routers so far. the first didn't work at all, the second worked for a couple of days then dropped dead and the final one requires restarts once or twice a day to operate properly.a little google research finds that they are also MORE prone to interference from other wireless networks and devices, when they actually claim to be more resistant.
considering the price, this represents the worst kind of marketing scam possible. don't be duped by the "need" for cutting edge technology, this router simply doesn't do it's job.

Excellent

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 7, 2006
Having had terrible experiences with wireless routers in the past, the associated "voodoo" driving me to dispair. So, i approached the hype around this router with trepidation - however, believe it, this thing is the real deal. Connection was very straightforward and my signal strength went from poor to excellent, all around my flat. Streaming video over wireless is now stutter free.
It's a little expensive, but honestly, it delvers.

best wireless so far

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 29, 2005
After upgrading from an actiontec router to this, I can certainly say its worth every penny. I had problems with installing the software, but nothing I couldnt handle. My connection hasnt been disconnected once so far and with an array of options its a good choice to buy.

The security Is simple to set up using WPA-PSK although Iv found it has stopped belkins software from refreshing the transfer speeds, and same with windows wireless setup. Although that is a minor problem.

If your buying a router for a good stable connection id recommend this along with the Pre-n belkin wireless adaptor as it increases speed to 108Mbps rather than the standard 54Mbps.
