THE wireless router

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 12, 2005
Having registered for Wanadoo broadband (which, by the way, is very good) and realising my notebook computer had a wireless thing built in, I decided to go wireless.
I bought the Modem Router from the high street, realising afterward it was £20 cheaper on Amazon, and it was setup in one night. I connected the router to the computer to set it up, and then I could go online wirelessly. It was easy to setup, and the best part is that the Router doesn't even need to be connected wiredly to a computer- it can be left on its own.
Couple of problems with it being sometimes it doesn't connect to the internet- solution: resetting the modem and it works again.
I had to contact Belkin Customer Support at one point, and got a very quick response to all my queries. Their customer service is very good and makes the buyer feel safe about what they're buying in the knowledge that there's help if needed.
Overall, the router's good, it don't require any long cables or seperate modem, and it works well - even though there is the odd malfunction. But nothing's perfect, eh?
Oh, and you get a free 5m Ethernet Male adapter in case you need to connect one computer wiredly.

Cheap and easy to set up

(5 out of 5) by R. James on Dec 5, 2005 (UK)
Took about 10 minutes to set up. The only hitch I came across was getting my laptop to connect to it to access the setup programme in the first place (you have to manually set the IP and Subnet Mask on the laptop to match those on the modem - I used 192.168.2.2 and 255.255.255.0).

After that it was a case of using the wizard on the setup programme to enter my login details, it logged in first time and hasn't so much as hiccupped since.

Works Perfect

(5 out of 5) by THoad on Dec 30, 2005 (London)
After recently getting a new laptop for christmas, I was keen to share my existing broadband connection on my desktop PC.

The quick start quide was simple enough; plugged in the wires (which are all included, right down to a phone cord), turned on the computer, and it did the rest itself.

Had to 'configure the modem', which sounds scarier than it is...all I had to do was type in my username and password for my broadband (BT Openworld), and it did the rest itself. Went on my laptop, searched for wireless access, found straight away, on the net within 10 minutes.

Wherever I go in the house my connection is "excellent", and I haven't experienced a dropped line once. The internet is as fast, if not faster than my desktop internet.

Very pleased! For £60/70, it's worth it.

OK, but problems with VPN

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 11, 2005
I purchased this router as part of the F5D9012uk4 bundle. The setup process was very straightforward, the manuals are very clear and professional. The product works OK, *but* I had major problems connecting to my work network using VPN. I contacted Belkin Support, to be told that this is a known issue with the F5D7632uk4. Their standard fix to this problem is to replace the router with the F5D7633uk4 model.

The Belkin ADSL 54 Mbps Wireless Router is awful

(1 out of 5) by Howard Goodrick on Aug 20, 2005 (England)
Since the purchase of my Belkin F5D7632uk4 ADSL 54Mbps wireless router I have not managed to get it to connect to my broadband.
I seem to be able to find no one who can help or has a good word for it. The Belkin help line is a complete waste of time and even if you do call their UK office you just get transferred to the answerphone on the global help line. The help disk is just a pile of gobbledigook in narrative, simply a PDF of a technical manual and there is no installation disk even though the CD is labelled / titled so.
I have wasted money and time on this product.Useless.
