Easy to carry, easy to use

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jul 19, 2005
I bought this camera having previously owned an earlier version of the same camera.
I have been delighted with it so far... my only critisism is that it takes a little too long to recharge ready for flash photographs. However it is a simple camera with a good quality feel and results. The zoom is very good and I consider this camera excellent value for money.. highly recommended if you're not a techno freak, but you still want a quality product with a quality result!

Stylish, compact, feature packed camera!

I bought this little gem for the sole purpose of taking out when going out with friends. I have a big Minolta Z2 which i use for my "serious" photgraphy but for taking out for a night on the town, size matters more than other capabilities. The Exilim S100 is literally the size of a credit card. I can slip this into my jeans pocket and not even realise its there!

But what amazed me even more its the quality of the photos and the amount of features packed into its tiny case. For one the optical and digital zooms are excellent and really surprised me qith te quality given its size. the Photo quality is also very good (even at 3.2 megapixels) and the flash provides good illumination without overexposure. The Best Shot Selector feature is also useful to get freat photos under different conditions (these include: portrait, night portrait, landscape, night landscape, pets, greenery, flowers, sundown, fireworks, food, text etc etc) also some "cool" features are the "business card" and "whiteboard" settings where you can take a picture of a business card at almost any angle and the camera will correct for it so you effectively look at it headon!

the battery life is very good too, and even if you need a back up batteries, they are relatively inexpensive given that it's a tiny lithium ion battery.

the docking station also makes it easy to charge the batterty, view photos off the camera or transfer photos to a PC at the touch of a button.

Minor drawbacks are the lack of durability regarding the lens shutter. after a night out of being stuck in my pocket and roughly used (i was pretty uh... inebriated) one of the lens shutters tends to stick and not close properly. A gentle tap usually clicks it back however. A minor thing really.

Overall a great little camera with a HUGE amount of features packed into a stylish metallic casing.
