Dont even think of an alternative !!

(5 out of 5) by Louis Christodoulou on Apr 3, 2007 (UK)
At first sight [...] seems kind of steep but trust me. Ive looked, you have no chance of getting anything even near to the quality of these for the money. The sattelites are so crisp (specially through optical/coax) and you turn em up, no distortion, turn em up more, your ears hurt and you things fall off the table... still no distortion. Sub has dropped spotlights out of the cieling in the room below !. Gives you that deep bass that you can feel through your body.

As for all the crackles etc. dont worry, seems as if logitech has sorted it all with the latest ones. I got mine in jan and no sign of crackles. Ive had things arcing in my room and no sign of any interfierence. Also, i ran my HDD Archos mp3 player around teh speaker to see if it corrupted the data on the HDD, Nothing ! It dosent seem as powerfull as they make it out to be. What i would watch is the sub actually shaking the pc to the point where the hdd cant read !

There is one bad point and thats the control wire between the sub and control box is quite short (probs to minimise interfearence). So take that into account as the sub is so large its best to decide where to put it before you buy it. One last point would be the positioning of the sub. This thing kicks wherever you put it. But, stick it in a corner and you wont regret it. You can hear the bass evenly around the whole room. Obviously the dynamics of every room are different but honest. Corners work wounders for subs. Also mean its harder to tell where the bass is coming from.

All in all, YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS PURCHASE

Superb system at a budget price!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. A. Wolden on Feb 15, 2007
I received this about a week ago and haven't stopped using since.
The sound quality is stunning at all volume levels and the subwoofer really does pack one hell of a punch!
I use this system as part of a home theatre set up and I have to say that my DVD's have never sounded so good. I played 'War of the Worlds' through it and you really could believe those aliens are in your house and the noise they make are truly menacing when heard in rich DTS sound.
My only word of warning is that you really do need a surge protector as the amp seems to blow fuses very easily.
Order this product today....you won't be dissapointed.

Big bit*h-a*s sound!

(5 out of 5) by Guggernut on Dec 23, 2006 (San Francisco)
For surround sound, this system is really excellent. The bass is huge, and too powerful, I usually have at less than the middle level. The satellites sound really well, clean undistorted sound even at very high volume.

Very recommended.

Incredible and worth every penny

(5 out of 5) by George Tsang on Aug 31, 2006 (UK)
Don't normally write reviews for purchases, but since this purchase was so good, i decided to express my views on these.

Like many, when the box arrived i was shocked - not only at how big it was, but how heavy! its nearly 23kg!! The delivery guy carried it over his back and shoulder!! lol

Took me and my cousin to lift it into the house! lol

Ok enough about this - Yes, the control pannel is big, about the same size as the speakers. Pictures makes it look like ipod size. Its more like 3 psps stacked ontop of each other.

Set up is nice and easy with color coordinated plugs into my computers 5.1 sound card.

The bass woofer is huge, and the sound that comes from them tremendous! The bass is so deep for music with bass is fantastic. As with movies - the sounds are incredible. Now i truly have a cinema in my own room.

Well worth the money as it brings new life to your music tracks, and you will want to watch every DVD you own, just to experience the soundtrack on them with the new speakers.

I better get started - i got over 100 DVDs!

Excellent Piece of Hardware but does have problems.

(4 out of 5) by C. Ung on Feb 21, 2006 (England, UK)
I know most of you that are reading this have probably heard nothing but praise for this nifty piece of hardware, I can assure that, that is true. however those reviewers may not understand electronics or sounds that well.
First off, if you order this (and you should!!) the box you get it in is absolutly gigantic! its so big that it did not fit through my front door, this is because of the subwoofer (subwoofer is bigger than my pc case! width and height! and i have a medium tower). Sound experience is nothing but out of this world! have it on half volume and you can hear it anywhere in the house, have in on full volume it can filter out nearly 100% of all sounds throughout your house as well as race your LCD monitor across the table! Definatly one worth owning for sound ethuastics or those who have money to burn.
HOWEVER- because the subwoofer is gigantic, it creates a deadly EM (electro-magnetic) field, meaning if you put your pc within 2 feet of the subwoofer or any piece of electronics no matter what it is you can cause some serious damage, especially if its prolonged contact. The field is so strong that it increases EMI coming from the power lines that can sometimes create random pops or puffs of sound to your speakers both soft and hard sounds.
The length of wire for each speaker is more than long enough to accomodate your room, but the master control unit to the subwoofer system has a limited cable.
Despite the amazing quality in sound and thx certified it is definatly worth owning if you can afford it. BUT if you buy this hardware YOU MUST purchase/own a surge protector that can protect the sound from increased EMI fields as well as have enough room so that the EM field within the woofer doesn't make contact with your pc equipment. If you don't you will experience mayhem poofs and puffs coming from your speakers and may risk damage to other components.
This is why i rated it 4 out 5 stars. Amazing but Dangerous!
