Good as long as it lasts
Performed very well but has now failed when just out of warranty. Now whenever I try to record or dub, I soon get a message that there is no live connection, and all that is recorded is audio. Only way out is to power off and restart, but it eventually happens again. Nothing wrong with the cables so I assume it is an internal fault that will be too costly to condier having repaired. Of course the Daewoo "prize winning" help line is permanently engaged. When I recently tried to add to a "record only" disk, the "no connection thing" happened, and the machine also somehow managed to delete the previous recording on the disk, so beware.

Not for the faint-hearted
I thought this was a bargain too good to be true, and I was right!I have two other Daewoo vhs recorders in our house and they are superb, easy to use and quality, all the things the DF4150 does not have. The recorded picture quality is zilch. You need a BSc.Masters to decipher how to use it.Returned to Amazon in no time, I was so disappointed.Even my son, who is a technophile, couldn't get to grips. This is one to leave alone, spend a bit more and get yourself a Panasonic DMR-E245EBS

Easy peasy
I was dreading getting this as, though I needed to transfer my old videotapes onto DVD, I thought it would be a nightmare. I can honestly say that with this machine, it is a doddle. I was up and running within the half hour and transferred some precious old tapes immediately. The one-touch copy is simplicity itself. It's a great price and I highly recommend it. I got it on free delivery from Amazon - it came within a couple of days.

Excellent buy at the price!!
Am I GLAD I decided to purchase this recorder!!
Having read the two poor reviews I approached purchase of this item with some anxiety but decided to buy it anyway as it is considerably cheaper than some of the opposition.
This recorder is excellent value. On receipt of the machine I set it up and immediately tried test copying VCRs to DVD (the reason it was bought) and recording from my freeview box. On HQ, SP and EP the results are excellent. On SLP (the 6 hour setting) there is a small amount of degeneration observable but the quality is OK if you NEED to record 6 hours of films, say over a holiday, and hiqh quality is not your first priority. Using the freeview box as source the HQ or SP setting produces DVDs of virtually cinema quality (perhaps my next purchase needs to be a HD TV as it is only on my computer I can appreciate exactly how good the pictures are - my CRT TV certainly does not do them justice).
Copying and editing VCRs recorded from the 60s onwards was easy and the results were extremely good, but bear in mind that video cameras have improved enormously so don't expect this machine to produce 2006 quality from a 1960 video tape, it copies the original tape VERY accurately (poor sound, slow focusing, bad colour balance and all).
An initial problem that I experienced was an overall green cast on the picture, this proved to be the ribbon scart lead and replacing it with a 'gold' contact one eradicated this problem completely.
Based on my experience, with a strong TV signal, I would recommend anyone to buy this machine.
