A very decent mouse
As wireless/optical mouse go I think this one is in the top 5.
Many optical mice have problems on various surfaces but not this one. I've tried it out on matt and gloss surfaces, still performs excellently.
There's plenty of buttons for people who like plenty of buttons. Although, they don't always behave as expected. Eg. The forward and backward browsing buttons on the side only work in internet explorer and not Firefox. I mapped the "back" button to "backspace" to achieve the same affect though using the supplied software. This software allows you to map any of the buttons to any key.
The battery life is great. I use my mouse at work, 8 hours a day. It only needs charging once a week.
The design is quite good. My cradle would fall over if the mouse is not placed in gently, though the wires do stabilise it somewhat. The mouse is very ergonomic, fits my hand like a glove. And the look? A smart black/grey finish. It looks the business!
2 gripes. First, the buttons are a little stiff unless you press them right at the end. Secondly, the mouse wheel sideways movement is a real pain. When I press the wheel it usually moves sideways cancelling the affect of the wheel press. I never use the wheel for horizontal scrolling and would not hesitate in buying the same model without this function (to replace my current one).

I just love this mouse.
I have an iMac Intel 10.4.9 which came with a mighty mouse. I have been unhappy with the mighty mouse for a few reasons too long to go into here. I love the Logitech MX 1000 laser mouse because of the comfortable contours and of course, the cordless convenience. It charges very quickly and the charge lasts a long time. I am very pleased with this item and have just purchased one for my son.

Absolutely awesome Mac OSX 10.4 gaming mouse!
I have two of these babies on two different machines, one with an old Mac G4 running OS9.22 (driven with Overdrive and not Logitech's own software) and the other in Mac OSX 10.47 (driven with Logitech's own 'Control Center' software. Works superbly on both systems. I would advise though if you buy a Laser mouse to ALSO buy a glass "Ice Mat" (buy direct from icemat.com in Denmark) for it to work on. Standard £5 mouse mats won't cut it with this technology; glass mats are the only things that work beautifully with it so I don't think N.Coper's 1-star Mac review above does it justice. He obviously got himself a "Friday afternoon" model! To completely contradict him, this mouse (in conjunction with an Ice Mat) is the ultimate buy. Apple's own so-called Mighty Mouse just doesn't cut it -- two buttons is the one thing the PC boys got right and Apple haven't. Buy it.

Disapointing
Forget the laser hype this product is no different to many other mice and a pretty expensive one at that. My main gripe was the poor customisation of the buttons compared to the microsoft Explorer 2 and in particular the wheel button does not work with some software applications whereas the Explorer does. Save your money.
