Great value for money

(5 out of 5) by G Watson on Mar 18, 2008 (Cheshunt, Herts)
The watch only arrived today so I'm still getting to grips with it.

But to start with the bracelet required 4 links taking out which I was unable to do myself but a trip to a local jeweller soon resolved that problem for a remarkably cheap £2! So having read a number of reviews on other watches from those unhappy and worried about bracelet adjustment - don't panic!

As I own another Wave Ceptor watch I'm already sold on and very impressed with the technology and timekeeping accuracy, but this version also gives me the rugged sturdiness of the G Shock range with the added benefit of the solar power function and the power saving shut down function.

For the price (around £70) you really can't fault the watch and the endless list of functions on top of those already mentioned such as: stopwatch, daily & hourly alarms, time recorder, world time, battery power indicator, auto light switch etc etc etc.

Great watch

(5 out of 5) by Droggs on Dec 1, 2008 (scotland)
Recently purchased this watch and its great. It does everything you would want a watch to do and the auto backlight is excellent.

The watch is heavy but well made and looks very durable. I certainly will not need to worry about everyday knocks.

The links on the bracelet can be removed with a pin. I needed to remove two so it would fit my wrist and it took me about three minutes.

A very good product and at just over £70 great value for money.

Looks great and works out of the box!

Being a second G-Shock watch I knew what I would be getting. But the seller from whom I got the watch actually proved the ruggedness of the watch in some way.

The packaging was a bit poorly though they charge 7 GB Pounds for packing and postage. They had used a very basic envelop with bubble wrap lining and as a result the thin card based package was squished on its sides and looked horrible. I opened it with my heart in my hand - but the watch seemed unperturbed.

Being a Waveceptor watch it was already showing the correct time. It did have the manufacturers protective tapes - the ones which resemble sticky tape - all over the watch. On its face, on the buckle etc.

One point to be noted about this buckle - initially I could not figure out how to open this buckle out to wear this watch until I realized that the way to open up the buckle (to wear it not to adjust length) is to press on two projections on its flap which has markings that says "G-Shock MT-G".

To be honest I am not so sure about these two buttons which need to be pressed to remove watch from your hand. I am worried that in certain positions of my hand at least one of these release buttons can get pressed - due to any reason if the other button gets pressed - may be by the lapel of my jacket the buckle may come un-done accidentally.

To adjust the length of the buckle I just used a precision flat head screw driver (1.4x20mm) - you know the ones available from the likes of B&Q/Homebase or even Maplins. I had to remove 5 links I think - I took care to remove three from one side and two from the other side.

The watch itself feels light - though as I took it out of packaging I felt the whole thing was a bit heavy turns out that it was actually the buckle which seems to add more weight. But then after removing 5 links the buckle is no longer heavy!

The World-time feature is very good - though the Daylight Saving Time - on/off indication is slightly confusing. In some watches this is always shown in small font next to the time - but this watch seems to indicate it on one of the circular multi display thingys you see on the dial. You have three circular pie-chart like things and one of the slices of one of these three pie's shows black pie slice when DST is On - not very intuitive to the viewer until you get used to this.

It does have a Battery level indication but it is once again one of the pie chart like thing and is not very obvious. And the diagram shown in the Instruction Manual is even more confusing.

Always wanted one ...

From the first time I saw a radio-controlled watch I have wanted one. At first they were quite large (I have fairly small wrists) and they were far too expensive for something that I didn't really need - even a cheap quartz watch is pretty accurate. When I saw this ... WOW! The prices had dropped plus I've had a number of Casio watches and never been disappointed. It's great! I paid a little extra to get one with a solar cell so it should last me about five years. Five years without having to touch it. No more "I'm about a minute slow". Best of all, no more messing about findling to alter the day-light saving setting. Yes, life is good and I feel free. Thank you Casio.
