More RAM = faster PC

(5 out of 5) by D. Clarke on Feb 7, 2006 (Cheshire UK)
Many PCs are sold with fast processors but too little RAM. Adding extra RAM like this improves the performance of a computer radically.

I added the memory to an inherited Dell Dimension 4500s which started with only 128Mb. The difference in speed is astounding.

Make sure you get the correct type of RAM for the PC, and be sure it has a spare memory slot before purchase.

ByteStor 512MB PC2100 DDR 266MHz Memory DIMM for Desktops

(5 out of 5) by 'J' on Dec 24, 2006 (Suffolk, England)
I have a Dell Dimension 4400, which although has a resonably fast CPU for usual applications it lacks in ram. But installing this, it has boosted the speed of opening and closing all applications.
If you need of a tool for checking your systems maunfactured capacity visit crucial.com, whom also sell memory, this will give you a understanding of what your pc had originally installed once you have selected your system from there database.
If your pc is running slow this is certainly recommened, with free delivery its good value as was quoted locally a price of between £60 & £80 to sort problem out. You dont need to be a genius to install it, look in your pc handbook it will probably tell you where the slot is in there to put the memory board into.

Well worth the price

(5 out of 5) by A. J. Garner on Feb 25, 2006 (Leicestershire)
I upgraded my RAM from 512MB to 1 GB, using the above Bytestor DIMM and have found a marked improvement in speed, particularly loading and closing Windows XP applications. For 35 quid the enhancement is well worth it, PCs automatically find additional memory so there’s no setup, it’s as simple as plug it in and it’s done. I can’t compare Bytestor with other manufactures of memory, but I’m happy with the results of upgrading with their product.

The only things to check when purchasing, is the speed in MHz should match the motherboard specification- see the manual supplied with your PC, and of course that you have a spare DIMM socket, or else you will have to replace all existing DIMMs with upgrades.

From 512mb to 192mb

(2 out of 5) by Mr. H. Ahmed on Nov 13, 2006 (kent)
I Got this RAM a couple of months ago to upgrade my computer from 1.5gb of ram to 2gb of ram...........all was good until about month later I noticed that my computer was closing down and starting up slower than usual........at first I thought this was a virus and scanned my computer an found nothing............any way after a lot of scanning and searching I found out that my RAM was faulty.........for some odd reason the ByteStor 512MB RAM had detracted to only 192MB ................so I removed it and got a new one made by a company called Component shop...........so far I have not had any problems with this one.............so I would advise to get this one instead............its only costs a few quid more......
