Sony Voice Operated Slim Tape Recorder
I love this purchase. Very easy to use. I use it for recording my choir rehearsals and it is brilliant for this. Picks up voices very well and its easy to distinguish different singing parts which is essential obviously. Sometimes a little buzzing/hissing noise can be heard in the background but not loud or often enough to cause a problem. I would recommend to anyone. Comes with nice pouch and handy instruction/information manual.

It does what I want it to do
Although Tape recording is fast becoming a relic with all the modern technology available I have found that this Sony Voice operated Slim Tape Recorder suits my needs. I am a member of an Amateur Operatics Society and this machine allows me to record music - songs and Lib which I can then play back in my car Tape player to rehearse and revise what I am doing and when. As far as I am concerned the perfect tool for my hobby

OK - Not Slim-line, & Quite Noisy
Firstly, this is NOT Slim-line, but to be fair to Sony they don't describe it as such, that's in the Amazon heading. It's actually wider than my old Walkman because of the speaker.
I chose this over the plastic-cased models as I thought it would be more robust, & it's certainly 'nicer' than the plastic model I tried. However, a lot of background noise from the unit's motor comes out on the recordings, which is a bit surprising as the motor doesn't sound loud when you are actually recording.
It's OK, I've kept it, but it's disappointing - I expected much better from Sony & for the price.
Oh, & it takes AAA batteries, not AAs as described in some write-ups.
