Great camera!

(5 out of 5) by E. Allyn on Apr 23, 2007 (London)
(I bought this a couple of months back)

Although the camera world has now turned predominantly digital, there are many reasons to stick with film - not least value for money, but also image quality. I prefer to use a film camera anyway, as I find more satisfaction in doing this, but this SLR represents great value.
The camera is easy to use - there are various modes for different types of operation, which give great images, even on cheap film.
However, budding photographers will also find comprehensive manual use - film speed, exposure, aperture etc. can all be adjusted.
The camera is a little plasticky - the battery compartment in particular feels flimsy, but it is lightweight and, for an SLR, compact, so I cannot fault it. Also, the two CR2 batteries it requires seem to last forever.

In all, a great camera - in particular it would suit people who want a first SLR with which to get to grips with photography.

Good leight weight camera - many functions

(5 out of 5) by Curt Gyde Sørensen on May 1, 2008 (Køge, Denmark)
Some people call me "retro" brcause I still use an analog film camera. Surely digital cameras are superb in many situations. Being interested in historic pictures of high quality, I still believe film cameras like Canon's EOS 3000V are good. Pictures that are stored on film will keep for at least 100 years. Enlargements from film are the best. I also like to take black/white pictures, especially portraits. In this case film pictures are still second-to-none. I like my Canon EOS 3000V because it is light weight, takes sharp pictures and it has an array of functions. But I can also make use of automatic functions if a picture best be taken quickly.

Outstanding Photographic Hardware

(5 out of 5) by Mr. D. Beaven on Nov 5, 2009 (uk)
As a working pro for many years i have used some of the best equipment availlable, this camera is superb for those venturing into 35mm photography,it has all the usual "fully auto" modes as well as the creative modes and manual mode, rear lcd which is a nice touch as it lets you see your settings, battery level etc,it even has a nice orange back light.

It is fully compatible with all canon ef mounts but not efs, sigma's uc and ex lenses are also compatible incl.dg(note dc is for digital cropped sensors,so not compatible)

If your a college student this represents a real bargain, being canon it holds its value, even in this digital age.
