I got them, found them really easy to set up and started watching within minutes. It does everything, plays dvds to mp3s!Has loads of features and can do things which seem pointless until you do the! I also connected it to my xbox using optical cable and the sound with games is awsome!! all i can say is this is a decent piece of kit and i recommend it highly to anyone!!

This is what DVD is all about!

Been using a Join DVD/Video for a couple of years with only basic dolby surround for the DVD. Decided to take the plunge and go for a system with integrated DTS/5.1 decoder and full surround speakers. Had a look at a number of systems and liked the look of the DCS-313. With it also playing DVD-R, DVD-RW, MP3 and WMA as well as the usual formats that most DVD players can handle, I thought this looked a good proposition.

Ordered the unit on a Friday night, arrived Monday morning. Great service! Hooked it up to my TV and connected all the speakers which are all coloured coded to make setting up a breeze. Switched it on, and WOW! DTS and Dolby 5.1 are astounding, and my kids were glancing over their shoulders looking for the dinosaurs while I was trying out Jurrasic park 3 in DTS. Picture is mint, much better than my previous DVD which is a different well known make. All thats left now is to expand my DVD collection which is so small because my previous DVD player hadn't inspired me to purchase many. The DCS-313 will certainly change that! I can't wait to buy some more.

In conclusion: great picture, astounding sound. Easy to set up. Plays everything except old vinyl LP's. Has an AM/FM radio built in, and is all steel case which weighs a lot but just shouts "QUALITY". Buy one, you won't regret it.

Excellent value.

This is a very good buy. To get the negatives out of the way first, the unit is bigger-deeper than a plain DVD player. The result for me is that it sticks out a few inches in front of my VCR and Freeview box. But all these home cinema units are going to be bigger as they contain (powerful) amplifiers. Also the cooling fan emits a continuous slight buzzing. This won't be heard in louder sections, and the ear adjusts to it anyway. Finally, there is a bright blure central light which stays lit whilst the unit is on. The dimmer button dims the display, but not the blue light!!

Now to what's good. As you would expect from Pioneer, the picture's fine. It is a multi-region unit and I;ve not had any problems with any discs, including picture discs from my computer (although it takes a while to load these). The sound quality is excellent, and power freaks will be delighted as it will pump out enormous sound levels. (But please respect your neighbours...). The surround sound functions, Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro-Logic and DTS all work well.I've found DTS marginally more satisfying, but it's aclose thing. Try the DVD of 'Amelie'; there are some wonderful uses of surround on this, such as how the acoustic changes in the Metro station. This really demonstrates what surround sound can do.

Also if you plug the audio output from your Freeview box into the Line Input on the Pioneer, you can get surround sound from TV programmes. This works better than I thought it would.

Consider. My first DVD player, three years ago, cost £250. Now you get a good multi-region player, with Dolby and DTS decoders, and good quality amplifiers, AND five decent speakers and a bass unit, all nicely balanced to match , in one package for less than that!!.

Recommended.

Amazing Pioneer value from Amazon.

Amazon delivered the system right to the door on their free delivery service. It arrived earlier than I had antisipated and I soon set about setting the system together,Pioneers instructions were easy to follow and you quickly get the impression you are dealing with a quality build piece of equipment.Everything is colour coded to aid the inexperiened person and you soon have the system ready for switch on.The specification details on Amazon's site does not prepare you for the clarity of picture and sound this 450watt unit delivers, once you have set up the system for the listening area, helped by the Pioneer's auto room set up device, you realize the excellent sound imaging this unit pushes out.Sounds fly around the room making you wonder how the little speaker units are delivering such solid bass and treble, turn the lights down, increase the sound, lay back and your in the cinema, fantastic. This is my very first purchase from Amazon the Pioneer multi region unit proved to be almost £100 cheaper than the high street, and the cheapest I could find on the internet,I shall certainly purchase more.

Very impressed.

I ordered this player as a replacment for my budget player i purchased a few years ago and i wasnt disappointed, I ordered it on wednesday and it was delivered friday.
Absolutely superb sound i thought the speakers would be a bit feeble but nothing could be further from the truth, very loud indeed, The handset layout is easy and intuative to use and setting up the system is a piece of cake. It also plays any region discs and mp3's and you can view your favourite jpeg pics as well. It also has 2 audio inputs so i plugged in the ps2 and this takes playing games to a new level, Socom sounds fantastic.
All in all great value i would recommend if you are looking for a surround sound set up.
